HOw are we a Swansea lite when we are above them

---------

Because Swansea have won a trophy and will be competing in Europe next season. We haven't and we won't be.

We're certainly not Swansea lite and I think we'll get more points next season than we have this season.

However I don't buy into this incessant need to say that everything is rosy cos it's not. Our next four fixtures are not easy and I don't really see how the signings that we can probably make whilst being out of Europe could improve us.

Basically if we sign 5 players 3 HAVE to work out because we get beaten too often and a lot of that is because of the system. To play this system we need very very good players.

Fabio.

I didn't say we did beat Utd last season. I said 'under KD's reign', thus incorporating the last 5 months of the previous season, when we went from hovering above the relegation zone to a sixth place finish. If KD hadn't taken over there was a genuine threat of relegation. I don't think many appreciate that.

Kenny Dalglish's last season brought us a trophy and European football, we had the same problems with the team then as we do know with an inability to put teams away that park the bus, the difference was the team pattern was well established and we just need 2-3 players upfront who could offer something different. Kenny was never given the chance to finish off the job he started after only one full season.

Instead we have gone through a great upheaval with now less success on the field than we had before with the same problems as before plus one or two others with what is now a very shaky defence compared to Steve Clarkes well drilled defence.

We are actually going backwards at the moment in my view.

There is nothing to suggest that Kenny would have done the same again this season, and he made some poor signings. If Brendan is going to succeed he's going to need more than 1 season. Judge him in 2-3, if you're still not seeing any progress and are still languishing around 5-7th and not really challenging for cups, then I think it is time for a reevaluation.

You can't transform a club in 1 season, and to be fair to him he has a lot of absolute dross in the squad. Though I must say, this summer transfer window is going to be absolutely vital to him.

This season the best way to sum you up has been inconsistent. You beat Wigan, then Spurs and then lost to Southampton, and that has been a pattern that emerged over the season. If you truly want to be a top 4 side again, those are the teams you need to be beating.

So pathetic.

3rd in the form table currently yet were rubbish at the moment. If we are rubbish then 17 teams are currently worse than us. People attribute the loss of Lucas and Suarez to Kenny's downfall when ill point to having 1 striker for half a season, a transfer window where BR couldn't get his first choice signings (unlike Kenny who spent £70m odd) and we also lost Lucas for a large chunk.

We have grown this season under Kenny there was no growth whatsoever.

I think the thing is though Fred, your last 6 games haven't been against 'top' opposition, Spurs aside.

"Swansea, Villa, West Ham, Wigan Southampton and Tottenham"

Only going back 6 games really doesn't show the full story. Why 6 and not 4, or 8? Because 6 puts Liverpool in the best possible light, and covers over the fact that you're losing to lower class oppositions too much.

FRED.

We finished last season 8th with two cup finals and European qualification. It looks like we'll finish this season 7th and empty-handed. If that constitutes growth to you then you're either barking mad or deluded.
I don't blame BR for our current state. He's doing his best under difficult circumstances and a great weight of expectation. The blame lies squarely at the feet of disinterested owners who haven't the resources to take us into the top four. Never going to happen while they're in charge.

By the way, very few managers are lucky enough to get their first choices in the transfer market. For example, KD and Comolli wanted Mata but had to make do with Downing. They wanted Phil Jones but had to make do with Coates. That's the reality when you're a rudderless mid-table team.

Fred souunding like the Spurs fans now, next up we take the open bus parade for the 3rd best form team of the Premiership trophy

i think i heard a commentator say that this liverpool team has scored the most league goals in 20 years dont know how true that is but if it is then no wonder you guys never won the league

The most league goals for a Liverpool squad I assume? King, it just brings me to the crux of my point. I don't know what the mentality of the squad is like when you can hammer Swansea 5-0, Wigan 4-0, then beat Spurs, and then put a performance like they did against Southampton.

posted on 9/4/13

To be fair we were the 3rd highest spenders for the overall 2012/13 season and to finish 7th with no cups or European football is a poor start for Brendan but he must be given another season and this summer window he and the owners need to nail it.

I'd just like a manager to be able to see out their contract myself.

But saying we're 3rd in the form table is the biggest loads of bollôcks I've ever read. Partly because it's a manipulated stat and partly because we're 7th. We've dropped 5 of the last 9 points for example and have four very tough gams coming up.

We won't achieve anything in the Premier league until we win it. End of story. Cup runs don't show progress at all and there was no progress under Kenny.

Also 6 games is the standard amount for showing form, but with 8 games taken into consideration we are 4th in the form guide.

When KD took over we were 14th. In 18 months he took us to 6th and 8th place finishes, 2 cup finals and European qualification. He got us playing with pride again after the disaster of Hodgson and he got rid of something like 19 under performing players. The fact that he progressed the club isn't even debatable.

posted on 9/4/13

Quote from Glen Johnson, "It is clearly a better season than last season."

I won't take anything away from what Kenny achieved in his first 6 months in charged, he was brilliant but I think that was a lot to do with the general good feeling around the club after the ousting of Hodgson and H+G.

And if he had kept up that kind of progress after spending so much on transfers then he would still have a job today and we'd probably be in the top 4.

Unfortunately we regressed and that's why he rightly lost his job. At his age he never seemed to learn from his mistakes, hence Henderson was always played on the right, Carroll and Downing weren't used in a way that would make sense. Brendan is happy to make changes and learn and that is why he is the better long term option at Liverpool.

Player in supportive of current regime shocker!

Think you should have to ask why he is coming out and saying that in the first place. If it's that clear why is it even up fopr debate?

Fred - you prattle on, and that's what is is, with meaningless verbs such as "steering" and "direction" but you're full of shít and literally cannot back up any of your quite frankly absurd notions with factual evidence.

posted on 9/4/13

Fred, Johnson is not going to say anything else about the current manager. He's hardly going to say publically that he's annoyed that there is no medals, Europe next season and that we are behind Everton in the league cos if he does he will be on the bench.

Other than an increase in win percentages in each third of this season. Evidence provided by beating a top team recently for the first time. Evidence provided by recently winning 4 games in a row for the first time in about 5 years.

If that isn't progress considering we got 2 points in 5 at the start of the season, I don't know what is.

I don't understand your logic, mate. You're picking out facts to try and prove we're professing under BR yet ignoring facts that prove we were progressing under KD!

Explain how, from the start of Kenny's tenure which was a fantastic few months at the back end of the 10-11 season, we progressed to the end of the 11-12 season where we finished 8th?
