Apparently it's something to do with them being a betting company.
So they aren't allowed to have a sponsor in Turkey? Or is it just the beeb's people whiting it out?
Looks quite nice without a sponsor on
Yeah, gambling is illegal in Turkey
Doubt it is the BBC doing it, doesn't look shopped or anything. Didn't see the game last night.
Fair play, thanks for clearing that up TSW
I noticed that last night. Probably just because I am not old enough to remember shirts without sponsors (being common) but it looks odd seeing a football shirt without a big sponsors name in the middle to me...
I'm completely guessing here but I'm guessing gambling/betting is not permitted in Islam and Turkey is a Muslim country is it not?
gambling is not illegal in turkey
it is not permitted in Islam, but it is not illegal
maybe out of respect, i dunno
If the majority of fans are Muslim then it makes sense that Madrid would be respectful by removing the advert, especially as it was at Galatasaray. Doubt they did it for the first leg.
only the strictest of muslims (in turkey) follow the rules. the majority dont care
i remember we had to cover up the carling on our shirts against lyon in france, something to do with them not wanting to advertise alcohol on football tops if i remember correctly.i would imagine the turkish don't allow gambling to be advertised
there's a tv program about it on the 'channel 5' of turkey and there are regular betting stuff in sports newspapers
Most Muslims I have known have drunk, that is a very small pool and all the ones I have known have been young men (18-23)
These are usually people born and breed in Britain though, one guy I knew was a Palestinian actually from the middle east and he didn't drink at all...
One of the most intelligent people I have ever met who wasn't something like a professor or a CEO already.
