On the basis that we have often sold our reigning player of the year my vote goes to Connor Doyle

some people choose 'consistency', I however will choose 'effect'. For me, only two players are in the running, and of those, injury has ruled out me awarding it to Jamie Ward, sadly.

I cannot go for Keogh, he's the choice of the uneducated. Yes maybe consistent, but not consistently good. He has been at fault for many goals and has affected us in a negative way. I cannot fault his commitment.

Player of the season for me is Jeff Hendrick. He has carried us many times, helped us secure points and shown a level of maturity way beyond his years. He had 3 or 4 anonymous games, but in such a poor team, that can be forgiven.

Sammon

1. Someone has to vote for him.
2. Showed real character in overcoming constant criticism to earn MoM award in vital season saving game.

It's Will Hughes.

Look at the slump since he's been out; it's affected nearly everybody else in the side, with the exception of Conor Sammon who was as God-awful before, during and after Hughes' injury.

He might very well be a cert for Young Player but his impact whilst on and when missing far outweighs the flukey purple patch Hendrick had, whatever Backo and Mostyn tell you. They wouldn't know a footballer if one have them a reacharound, or a 'harper' as it's now known in all LGBT circles.

Clough Out.

I lean towards Hendrick. Keogh a close 2nd. Hendrick had a very average start to the season but has played superbly for the last 5 months consistently well. Hes a very powerful player now,can pass, get stuck in and is adding goals to his game. Massive player for us. I understand what Mostyn says about Keogh but i think hes carried the defence at times and a better partner will see Keogh kick on even more.

I'm 'educated', yet I choose Keogh....

Normally Mostyn writes lucid, sensible stuff but honestly ...
"I cannot go for Keogh, he's the choice of the uneducated. Yes maybe consistent, but not consistently good. He has been at fault for many goals and has affected us in a negative way"

You dont have to vote for him but the rest of that is utter tosh! He's been better than average in every game and has played every game to boot. He's scored a decent number and saved many more by putting his body on the line. A far better player than Shackell.

That said, I'm with Backo on this. Hendrick has that extra class that few of our players have. we are just starting to see how he can control games from central midfield and I hope he and Hughes can have a couple of years together.

Nonsense.

Will Hughes
Peabo
Hendrick
Westley

Typo, Backo: should read 'if one Gave them a reacharound'.

Bryson

with James Bailey a close second.

Young player - Will Hughes

1 Bryson
2 Keogh
3 Hughes

Got to be Bryson for me. Effort and industry always 100%, he's so often the catalyst for turning defence into attack through his pacy harrying of the opposition and then there's that goal against Forest....

Keogh
Bryson
Hughes

Hughes would've walked it for me if he'd managed the whole season.

....seems Peabo's ahead of young Jeff in most people's reckoning so far.

666 knows, eh Backo?

backo - that should have been "you're" not "your".
Don't feed 666 any ammo!! We can't afford to do that!

Its got to be Keogh.

1) For a start, player of the season has to play most of the matches in the season.

2) We don't have a bad defence - we've conceded 60 so far this season - which is the average for the league.

3) Yet the defence has been constantly changing, with both first choice FB's missing for many games and a sucession of different CB partners for Keogh, all of whom are generally agreed to be 'not good enough at this level'. So if it's not Keogh that's kept us mid-table defensively, then who the hell is it?

4) Neither Ward or Hughes have played enough matches to be 'player of the season' even though when they do play their impact in a given match is usually greater than Keogh's.

5) Hendrick's current form is applying rose-tinted specs to some posters on here... he wasn't merely not at his best before Xmas, he was poor. IMHO half a season of 'poor' and half a season of 'great' does not add up to player of the year.

As for Mostyn's opinion, I find it's often people that have poor appreciation for the defensive side of the game that have a shallow understanding of football.

Regardless of comments made above..its must be Ward as her brought goals and talent that have been lacking.
