Rooney, Welbs, Sturridge, Carroll, Walcott.

Walcott, Sturridge and Welbs could all play wide though, I prefer Wazza as a number 9.

We wont be doing anything with roy as manager, plus the overall team quality isnt good enough, only a few top top players

Danny as a No.9? No chance! I'd take Sturridge, Defoe or Carroll over him atm!

He's got to stop flapping around the box!!

I agree. Thought the fact that for the first time nobody is expecting them to do anything might work in their favour.

Rooney, Sturridge, Walcott, Carroll (plan B)

If Walcott is really a winger then add in Defoe as well

Walcott as a striker, or at the very least, on the right of a front three.

If England insist on playing him on the right wing of a four-man midfield, then it's a complete waste. It's no coincidence that Walcott's best play last night came when he cut inside from the wing as he has been all season for Arsenal.

Expecting him to hold the width and remain on the touchline would be idiotic on Hodgson's part.

Have you even qualified yet?

I do expect you to win all three home games to be fair, but Poland and Montenegro are no mugs either and are well capable of taking a point at Wembley.

Rooney, Sturridge, Defoe and Welbeck for me. As much as i like those four the days of quality players such as Fowler, Ferdinand, Collymoore, Le Tissier and Ian Wright not getting a look in for England have loooong gone haven't they?

Personally i don't want Andy Carroll (or players like him) anywhere near the England squad and he shouldn't be there if we're going to progress as a footballing nation.

Carroll did well for a few months at Newcastle and during the last quarter of this season at WHU because those sides were designed to get the best out of him. Getting the ball wide and knocking it in, playing 40-50 yard balls up to him to hold up or flick on is fine for mid table teams but not for what is supposed to be the pinnacle of football, the world cup.

We already know he can't deal with the more technical aspects of the game or he would still be wanted/needed at Liverpool and people say he would be a good plan b, i'd to think that if plan a is struggling then the next go to tactic wouldn't be get the big man on and hoof it up to him, but then it is England.
