Valencia wont get the same preferrential treatment with Moyes
I dont think its a shocking revelation when I say Fergie and Nani never really saw eye to eye, always seemed like Fergie had soemthing against him for whatever reason
WIth a new manager, both players have a clean slate. Plus Moyes rarely plays with wingers who just hug the touchline, he likes those that cuts in
Smallin,
the question is, who has been the better player this season taking into account that Nani has only played a handful of games this season?
A mate of mine who I'm sat next to as I speak believes Valencia has been our best winger this season.
Happy slap him
Title says it all, guys. A mate of mine who I'm sat next to as I speak believes Valencia has been our best winger this season, and reckons an unfit Nani who hasn't been starting games regularly is no way near Valencia. Deluded much?
......................
Deluded very. Punch the idiot.
I think your mate is on crack
It's not really a surprise that Valencia got preferential treatment.
Firstly Valencia had showing more willingness to stay at the club, hence him 'sacking' his agent and signing a new deal, whilst Nani seems to be refusing his offer.
Secondly, Valencia was player of the year last season so if anyone has earnt the right to play himself out of bad form it is him.
Hiz, does Tottenham have a large amount of drug addicts there or something?
Funny. I recall an article earlier in the season on which United fans compared the merits of Valencia and Bale.
The consensus at the time was that Valencia would run him close, I was mocked for saying Bale could go for 80m..
Could have been said last year.

I don't think that SAF had anything personal against Nani, more that his play frustrated him and it has built up over the years.
It's a strange one, obviously Valencia played more games but was pretty useless in most of them. Nani on the other hand was rarely given a run of games which never helps the performance of any player, as a result his perfrmances where very inconsistent.
The fact however that Ferguson started Nani in the home leg of the Real tie ahead of Valencia (and Rooney) suggests he does in fact rate Nani and his performance up until the unfortunate red showed Fergie was right.
Neither had a great season but at least nani showed glimpses of his talent. I know the whole contract negotiations aren't helping but I still believe if you give Nani a run of games on the right he will perform and win you matches.
Id say that our best performing wingers this season goes:
Kagawa
Giggs
Nani
Valencia
Young

Was at the beggining of this season actually, I remember it
Clearly Bale has moved up a notch and Toni has had a poor season for him
Based on the previous season, there wasn't much in it whatsoever
Regarding Valencia
He's had a poor season. It happens. Players just can't do it all the time. Players can have off seasons and Valencia cleary has the right attitude and I see no reason why he can't rediscover the form and confidence to be at his best again
This 'been found out' is something I have thought about and come to the conclusion that given his age, surely he would have been 'found out' long before now. It isn'y like opposition managers in the PL have never seen him before and he turned up for games as a complete unknown
As for Nani. He clearly has far more in his locker though and has had to suffer being shunted for Toni or dropped after one bad game (or dropped (or shunted) after a bloody game. For me, as much as Toni's attitude is so good, no way he should have been given so long to play himself into form when Nani is in the wings desparate for a run in the side.
That's just Fergie showing has his favourites
His personal blast to the media about Nani after the Chelsea game was a clear indicator or why Valencia was always preferred over Nani last season, despite the latter showing more in the few games he played
The fact however that Ferguson started Nani in the home leg of the Real tie ahead of Valencia (and Rooney) suggests he does in fact rate Nani and his performance up until the unfortunate red showed Fergie was right.
-------------------
He was out of position MU
Thing is even if a player is 'found out' in the case of Valencia his strengths are power and speed, the 2 things defenders hate, there isn't much you can do when a man of Valencia's build is running at you full pelt.
The problem is for whatever reason he stopped doing that and the sad truth is there isn't much else to his game so when he decided not to use his speed and power he becomes pretty useless. Why he has decided not to run at defenders and scare the living $hit out of them is odd, it can't be purely a confidence thing, there was talk all season about him having a hip injury but if that was the case why did he never get it sorted, we had Nani waiting to play the whole time.
UnitedRedMacca
True but he was still picked to play while Valencia and Rooney were not. That was an odd tactic by Ferguson that night, Giggs was playing both at RW and CM while Nani was predominantly on the LW but with license to roam to the right. I prefer not to see Nani on the left but he does an ok job there, seems to get a few more goals and less assists when he is on the left being able to cut in and shoot.
MU82
Weird ain't it. He hasn't lost any pace as some have suggested. Check out the 'Valencia Insane sprint speed' on youtube for this season's Liverpool game
I have seen defenders simply marking his right boot as opposed to marking the man himself but even then, last season he would have still burst past them.
Players loose form though. For me, that's when we need to get behind them the most, be patient, as opposed to just berate them for suddenlt being garbage
I've lost count of the number of players I have had to defend just because of a dip in form. There were armies of United fans wanting Carrick gone because of one averageseason after Rome. Just when the guy needed a boost, United fans turned on him
He wasn't the first though and he won't be the last
Based on the previous season, there wasn't much in it whatsoever
-------
I would have to disagree there. Bale destroyed Maicon in the 2010/11 season.. he might not have been doing it consistently but I can't recall Valencia winning many plaudits in that time. For all the "kick and run" criticism of Bale I think it applies much better to your man.
Not sure what happened to Valencia though.. seems a bit lost.
Nani is leaving and our best proper 'winger' is 40. Pathetic really.
True, I will back any United player (even Rooney) while they are still at the club. We've all seen what Valencia can provide when he's on his game and it's a great option to have.
I genuinely felt sorry for Carrick that night in Rome, what the hell was he supposed to do against Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets? Then Fergie goes and says he learnt from his mistakes and then plays even less in central midfield 2 years later, Carrick must have $hat his pants when he saw the line-up that night.

If Nani leaves it's nothing to do with Sir Alex. The guy is choosing to leave. And Sir Alex isn't here anymore so surely if those two had a problem it's not an issue in whether Nani stays or goes?
BalesLeftBoot
Last season both were more known as out and out wingers providing assists, both getting 16. Bale is undoubtedly the better player but 12 months ago things did seem closer, his game has changed dramatically since then moving more centrally and being far more the focal point of the Spurs team especially with Modric leaving.

I never said it was. I just find it pathetic that a club like United has a 40 year old that will be our best winger heading into the new season.
If Nani has signed the contract offered he would still be here, that's obvious. At the same time, he probably had a read of what Young is supposed to be getting and cried a little.
