PS4 has no backwards compatibility, but they are going to have a streaming service where you can play old PS3 games from the cloud.
Retail price £350
Playstation network will apparently now require subscription to playstation plus. This doesn't bother me too much as I currently subscribe and get loads of free games that I would otherwise not play due to price / lack of interest.
Also PS Vita can remote play PS4 games
PS4 main selling points?
--
Well the games are obviously the main selling point of any console or gaming format.
Being that this is a next gen console, games will be much better (generally).
Between the PS4 and Xbox One, the difference is that Microsoft are implementing some strange laws and rules which have put loads of people off[the xbox one]. Whereas Sony are sticking to the more traditional ways with the PS4.

I don't get why people say the xbox was better than the ps3. Game graphics were worse, games had to be put onto 2 discs, the hardware was pretty similar and you're basically playing the exact same games on both anyway.
So why is it better? Because of Halo and Gears of War? Give me a break.
And now you come out and say the Xbox One will be better than the PS4, even with all the stupid stuff aside, the PS4 supposedly has better specs too.
Just seems like your mind was made up before they were even announced.

Xbox 360 was a far better online experience.
Based on what?

Some will,
If you're happy knowing microsoft are working to limit your freedom of choice as a consumer and spying on you on a daily basis (which is what they are doing), good for you.

You think so?
Name one practical advantage to the consumer of having to connect once every 24 hours?
Comment deleted by Site Moderator
Reliability. Less lag. Better servers. XBL group chat.
--
You even played online on a ps3? The connection is fine and it doesn't lag as far as I know, atleast on FPSs, GTA online and Red Dead online. Your argument seems to just be xbox is better and that's that.
And plus, you only comment on online stuff, with a pretty poor argument at that. What about the offline games? Anything better on xbox?
I know they do, I suppose we should be grateful microsoft have just been upfront about it.
Having to connect every 24 hours has no obvious benefit to the consumer but it must have a purpose.
The only people who could benefit from it are microsoft.

I don't think there is much difference offline - I mean Forza or GT, Killzone or Gears its horses for courses. I game online, have used both consoles and believe Xbox is infinitely better

You talk like PSN disconnects and lags constantly though, the only thing xbox seems to have is the group chat. It's not infinitely better at all. Xbox people just seem to use this argument that xbox live is so much better than PSN yet show basically nothing that proves it is. Other than the old "well I've played both and xbox is better". Pretty much anyone whose played games has played on both you know.
you need to be connected for kilobytes, not even megabytes

When is PSN ever down?
Did you just make that up?
Children chillax - stop bickering, one of you likes xbox one ps and your not gonna change the others mind, however Some will, i suggest using facts or giving your opinion, rather than trying to push stuff that is years old or not correct as facts nowadays.
But some facts are the PS3 hardware is much stronger on paper than the 360..............but was never fully used hence them moving to a more traditional architecture this time round.
Lag and latency used to be a problem but hasnt been for a good 3+ years
The Xbox menu is a billion times better than the PS3 one
PS+ is better than Live atm on price, support, service and content - however, M$ have said Gold will improve in the future
PSN hasnt been down for quite a while now - the STORE however does go down once a week to be up dated
And the idiot who said they dont care about people in Africa who cant connect - well that means no Xbox TWO as M$ wont be able to afford it It is in any business plan to get as much market as possible as easily as possible. And the emerging markets are HUGE take South America and Brazil for example - makes more money than UK, has more possibilities in the future than UK, has 44 million gamers and only 45% is connected - i will leave yo to do the maths (Just for your info the UK has 66 million people as its entire population)
Right now, there isn't really much difference between both of them. They are offering similar online services and a similar spec console.
The difference will be on the games. PS4 seems to have a more wider array of games and will make is more successful outside of the UK and North America whose gamers prefer FPS over other types of games.
In the European market and Japan, PS4 will do well and I see XBone failing there. I also see it the same in places in Americas from Mexico and below and Asia and Africa.
The fact that you can't share games (its how I played Final Fantasy 7 and 8 on the old PS1) and you have to log on every 24 hours is a put of to many console gamers.
I had bought the original Xbox and Xbox 360 but this one has put me off.
Right now, there isn't something like "This one has this and that one doesn't" its more like "This one doesn't do this but that one has to do that with no benefit to the gamer."
