Personally, and this is just my view, I don't believe you regarding AVB not having an input into signings.

Just feels like every signing in and player sold felt like the way he operates (more from his Porto days than Chelsea).

Again, just my view, may well be wrong (I usually am!)

Morning chris h, he has a little bit. The botched signing of Moutinho was an attempt to give him a player he likes. He might ask for a certain position say right back and he might get a left back as the powers that be deem it more necessary. His role is on the training field.

You looking forward to the transfers with Arsenal? I have a suspicion you will spend big this summer.

I believe we will LLM. I don't think we will go crazy like some fans think and spend (net) £70m.

But I think we will offload lots of deadwood, get in a top striker (Higuain looking good), and quality defensive minded midfielder, and 2 better quality squad players.

With that being said, wouldn't surprise me if we signed two unknown Frenchmen

Still cant get my head around that system mate. A manager who doesnt have the say in what players we get?? wtf? it doesnt sit right with my anyway

so if we go downhill then who gets blamed? the lad who tries to get the best out of what hes given? or the lads who give him the shiet players? Its seems messed up.

AVB - He has never bought a player at any club, he does not get a big say in any players coming in although he is notified.

Does this not worry anyone? It is surely the manager's ability to communicate and work with the players that gets the results that count for the fans and that's results on the pitch. So I would hope that his ideas on who to sign count somewhere along the line right?

Thanks mate - I always enjoy reading your well-informed posts and articles.

The DoF and manager will agree what potions need filling with what kinda skill set. Its not as if AVB will say, I want NEW STRIKER and leave it up to the DoF to deliver someone, they will know exactly the type of striker require and look at a range of options and AVB would probably prioritise them, but from the DoFs point of view he will have a slightly separate agenda, relating to financial side of things, what represents a good investment, so while the managers preferred choices will be regarded to it is just one factor in the overall decision making.

LLM.....has always been pretty damn accurate with his insider knowledge so has my respect. Not an attention seeking ITK like so many others.
