Always a bit cautious of the Star but awesome if true.
I know some of the more fragile egos on here will hate this news but the important thing is that McDermott is being given the freedom to do his thing by GFH.
Think we can do better than Hunt. But if BMD wants him & apparently now has the necessary to proceed. all's looking good.
Bottom line, in BMD I trust
If it happens I'm assuming Mills on loan and Hunt on a free.
Mills had his best spell under McDermott and we've not had an ideal central defensive partnership for many a year. He's still young enough to come good again after disappointing spells at both Leicester & Bolton. I'm not going to jump up and down with excitement but it's a signing that offers cautious optimism.
Hunt I'm afraid, whether the Cheeries like it or not, is very much in the mould of same old, same old. Free. 30 years of age. A striker that isn't prolific. Old mate. Not enthused at all.
GFH allowing McDermott to do as pleases as long as it doesn't cost them a bean. Lets not forget a good number of professionals have left the club freeing up wages.
I'm all for free out of contract players but there are better, much better than Noel Hunt.
Stevie
If this is true though, these two could be the first of the seven, yes seven, that I understand Mr McDermott has asked for....?
Should this be the only two through the door I might be of the same opinion. But with the big fellow already in, these two and the possibility of five more coming in.......?
Understand all of that and if the next few, if there are more to come, are players of note, quality or potential, I will grow my hair long again, adorn a beard, wear some beads and throw away my shoes and socks in favour of Jesus' finest.
Well I might think of doing that........
Mills on loan means 2 things, we aint got the money to buy him and subsequently pay him and Brian recognises our defence needed more to it.
As 4 Hunt not exciting on paper, but the last 2 times he was in this league he got to wembley and then won it, so unlike the relegation fodder neil brought in, in theory the drearies should be more optimistic about this one..in theory!
Stevie maybe you look rather sexual in flippy flops?
in theory the drearies should be more optimistic
That wouldn't happen even if we bought the Spanish national team that just beat Tahiti 10 - 0
Apparently Torres would be regarded a carthorse as he only scores tap ins and cannot trap a ball...!!
All I say is, the window opens next week, there's time.
Actually I might, I'm digging out a pair now.
And buying the Spanish national team would be lovely. Score out of 100 the chances of that actually happening.
0 - perversely that kinda sums up where we are. Torres or Hunt. Hmmmm............
May I as as a dreary point out that the article says he's been given the go ahead to sign his reading old boys, doesn't say owt about having the freedom to sign ALL the players he wants....just a minor observation.....

It could be that GFH have said yes to buying him but then theres less in the pot for other purchases. BM might be bringing him on loan to have a look and see if he can turn it around- could be a shrewd move!

Do I say that harj.......? I think you'll find I actually say
'...If this is true though, these two could be the first of the seven, yes seven, that I understand Mr McDermott has asked for....?'
and later this
'... the window opens next week, there's time...'
somewhat different.
There again I have been misinterpreted before, so I'm not surprised

Eric................That would be 8...........so if we even got 4 more coming in as long as they have pace and improve the team i'll be happy..
Highland...
If we bring eight players in, you and I both know one poster who will call Brian McDermott a liar for mentioning seven in an earlier article...!
And furthermore that GFH have forced him into bringing in more players than he wanted...!
Eric u aint talking about clive are you by any chance?
Eric....I'm not on about what you said...I'm giving you my interpretation of the paper's article.....
8 players? He said six or seven. GFH can't be trusted to look after the money we haven't got.
I want Leeds United to be successful. I want to post articles that only exude positivity. I think that's the same for everyone.
We're all passionate about Leeds, we just demonstrate it in different ways. Positive or negative, they're just views after all.
That said........
Hunt? Why would we?
It's the Daily Star Harj..........that paper prints a lot of words but very rarely say's anything...................bit like Eric really
It's also in The Sun - so it must be true
Stevie...........I read somewhere that GFH came to Leeds with no money........and they've still got most of it left
In that case I'll take everything back. Fine financial custodians so they are.
Highland...Bankers don't have money. They look after other peoples.....What could possibly go wrong?.
