Brilliant, your 1st money signing in about 20 years and already giving it. And you wonder why everyone hates your club and fans.
Still to fiddling with your dog mate
LIW..
you are going to have to fund that purchase..
see who "goes" before you post again...
38
With our turnover pal, am sure we can fund
Jealousy is a awful trait
Totally off subject, why are Bournemouth 16/1 on for the championship?
Town 50/1, weds 40/1,leeds 20/1
Liw, we haven't finished our signings yet.
its what happens when you get involved in a bidding war...
you end up paying a million quid for a kid worth half that at best...
expectations on him will be too high, too quickly...
I still think there will be one or two movements out to help fund it..
There was no bidding war, Wolves and Blackburn both had offers accepted, they left it up to Murphy, then Leeds came in and offered the same and he chose Leeds, of course. Completely up to the player, he's far too good for L1, that's why he fancied the step up.
More to come.....
you paid more than the others were willing to..
he chose le-ds???
his agent chose you...
like all kids with agents from lower leagues you are a stepping stone to the premier league... so are we..
welcome to the real world...
in truth I don't see us pushing for promotion anytime soon and the same with l;eds....
if you or us can compete with 3 teams given 20 million for being sh-t and another couple who still receive 20 million a season for being sh-t in previous seasons then we will have done a great job...
you paid more than the others were willing to..
-----------------------------------------------------------
no we didnt
stop making yourself a look a idiot
liw..
cant argue with someone who still "believes" they are in the early 70s...
le-ds will pay more money overall for murphy than Blackburn were willing to..
real world.. come into it..or just keep tying your scarf to your wrist whilst wearing a "star jumper and flared trousers".....
nobody signs for le-ds because of who they "were"...
its cash pure and simple and a way of moving upwards and then significantly onwards..(you are losing players to Norwich!!!)
you are no longer in the top division, mid table second tier...
It's still a lot of brass to shell out on a players who will be 24 in just over 3 month's time, plus he's spent 3 of his 4 seasons as a pro operating in the lowest division (League Two) and only one in League One.
So, lets hope he can cope with life in The Championship, because your lot are going to have their work cut out trying to compete with the likes of Wigan, QPR, Reading, plus the Tenacious Terries.
le-ds will pay more money overall for murphy than Blackburn were willing to
-------------------------------------------------------------
How the hell do you know that.
Nobody knows.
Make your mind up, one minute your saying we havent a pot to p i ss in, the next your trying to say were out spending in your words
i"f you or us can compete with 3 teams given 20 million for being sh-t and another couple who still receive 20 million a season for being sh-t in previous seasons"
So come on which is It ????

liw..
I know because its football???
which planet have you been living on..?
the le-ds boss wanted this lad, so there will be jiggery pokery to make it affordable..
I believe we are in the same position with Vaughan who is likely to cost over a million..
I accept we cant afford that without some adapting of our financial outlay..
spouting we have spent a million and there is "more to come" seems to be ignoring the "bleeding obvious" to some tune..
Mirf
Your bang right, it is alot to spend on a league 1 player, lets hope he's worth it, because he could be a hell of a player or could sink.
But i'd rather us go down that road than, waste the amount we have on ageing journeymen.

Every player doesnt go just for the highest wage.
You know full well, as I do, any player going to Blackburn, is gambling with there career.
Would you go there for a extra few quid, when long term it could cost you
Who mentioned anything to do with the 70's?
I bet out of the teams relegated from the prem, Reading have the best chance, only because of their manager though.
players are not "gambling" with their careers..
they go where the most money is on offer..
you cant change your mind and decide not to pay them when it suits you..
best you can hope for is to be able to pay them off if it goes t-ts up...
Rhodes is quite happy at Blackburn to take his 40k a week for the next 2 years whilst always looking for the move up.. if it does not come he has the "cushion" of that big money...
If he was "serious" about "testing" himself he would have pushed for the move to Fulham at the time.. but they wanted to pay 4 million with some add ons and crucially, his wages would have been just above the 21k he was on at town(the 21k was a fact as blabbed on radio le-ds)...
he would still have been with us if Blackburn hadn't gone mad with the fee and again, crucially , the wages because hoyle wasn't going to let him go anyway unless the offer to town wasn't bordering on ludicrous..
becchio went and sat on a bench for more money, lots do...
the days of young players with talent "working out a career path" have long gone.. once they are "noticed" and the money goes daft they will go absolutely anywhere, without a second thought about the "next contract"....
ours and your better players play for us because nobody offered them a few quid more a week to play somewhere else, that's all..
I think he simply chose us over Blackburn. Wages will have been similar I would think.
Blackburn are a joke at the moment, had we still had Bates in charge, I would say we were as much a joke club.
Well no one could say a move to Blackburn was a 'step up' for Rhodes last season...they were as much in the relegation mix as us. The difference is they were expected to do much better, and we weren't...but if Rhodes had stayed with us, we'd have done much better and Blackburn would have gone down...IMO
LIW - if you want to come and discuss football with us then do it. You don't need to create articles that look like they were written by an eight-year-old high on blue fizzy pop.
You're an alright poster when you get going but I dunno why you always have to start a discussion by picking a fight?
Champ
Your a good poster too and I enjoy when we get into good debate

Just a little less of the crap articles, eh?!
So....you're embarking on a bit of a spree by the looks of things! Apart from Smith they are all fairly decent signings. The lad from Crewe was a bit costly but not exactly way overpriced as some have suggested. Rhodes cost 8 times that having only impressed in League One, and furthermore...he made the step up quite easily, as have many others. Might take him time to bed in but he's certainly the sort of target you should be going for.
Liw, you should probably refrain from aggravating the Huddersfield fan base, they might embarrass us this season.
Champagne, not sure if you got my other message but I have had to close my championship league because I was made a leader in another one, however you're welcome to join that one instead. It is the SG league, simply put.
Looking forward to seeing you there?
