Is Ahmet Piper any relation to Maris Piper?
I wouldn't be as quick to condemn Adebayor. Sure, he had a pretty poor season but the season before he was brilliant for us.
If he goes he goes. However, I won't be devastated if he is still at Spurs next season.
I would rather go into the new season with Ade rather than splashing out huge money on a Benteke or a Michu.
A lot of sources are reporting this, including Sky Sports, it's something I've been thinking long and hard about. The fact is, it seems likely we'll convert to a 433 formation for most games so ideally we need a striker who can interchange with Bale, David Villa would be perfect for this, but it's also useful to have a target man and Adebayor is our only option. I'm starting to think there's no point selling him this season but if we do buy another striker there's no doubt he'll be spending some time on the bench, along with Defoe and Dempsey, unlikely any of them will be sold since they've all signed recent contracts. All in all we have a lot of attackers with Sigurdsson, Holtby and Townsend to add to that list. Which is a good thing.
I'm not exactly being quick MMD. When he was looking for a contract he was great for us. Almost as soon as he signed though his performances became lack lustre to say the least. Okay he had a few injuries to deal with but that's life. The last few games for us I thought he showed a few glimpses of his loan season self but you could argue he knew he was under threat again so put in more effort. He did the same at Arsenal, City and RM so as I say, I'm hardly being quick to condemn him. I wont be devastated if he stays either so long as he is contented to be a squad player, something his ego suggests he wouldn't be I'm afraid. I'm not convinced Benteke or Michu is right for us either especially at the fees being bandied around.
There's more chance of the go0ns winning the treble this season than there is of Daniel Levy parting with £15-20 mill on Benteke after one good season.
I'd keep Adey he will have a better season I'm sure of it.
BK, I understand that both Dafoe and Dempsey's contracts run out in 2 years time. Combined their salaries are reported to be around £8m pa. I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs are looking to flog them both in all honesty.
You think THAT'S a cruel rumour?
Cop a load of this!

I really don't like fans like you. (No offence intended)
On reflection you could see that he was unable to get into a good rhythm. He was only able to get a good run of games under his belt and we are surely under staffed in this area.
We will need a man in the box next season and he is talented.
Give him a break, we did not exactly create a bunch of chances either.
Shortback
My only real concern is we go into the season with only 2 strikers, or just Villa and Dempsey.. not enough firepower there for a season in Europe.
Benteke, Higuain, Gomez.. all apparently available for roughly the same money and would go a long way to getting us top 4 again.
Say what you want about adebayor last season (with some justification as he was poor)....
...... If he leaves we need 2 strikers instead of 1. Now if you think finding 1 quality striker at an affordable price is tough, how will we afford 2?
Personally I would keep Ade
Chronic
I do agree, he will be a key player next season, I know I bashed him last year but I think Defoe's time at the club is coming to an end,
If he stays and applies himself I would be delighted. There's an old proverb that says if you ignore the past you haven't got a future and Ade's past, not just at our club, suggests his future lies elsewhere. His is a classic case of having fantastic natural ability but not having the right state of mind to channel it properly. As with anything not earned (i.e. natural ability) there is a tendency to take it for granted and when it lets you down, as it occasionally does, you get angry and frustrated. It's what you do with those emotions that's marks a great player. As I say, if he stays and hits the ground running I would be delighted. If there is any doubt in AVB's mind though, get shot. Couldn't agree more with all the comments about having more strikers, we need 4 in the squad at least and preferably a young'un or two to come through the ranks and get some game time. As for how much that costs, I actually couldn't care a jot. I can't influence it and it's down to Levy and Lewis. One thing is for sure, the way the game is going, with all the emphasis on Euro Champions League football, we need to be at the top table or accept forever being an also ran. Apologies for the diatribe.
ade did my head in last season. but there is something inside that is telling me that he will be good this season. just a gut feeling. so much went against him last season, most of it his fault.. but the year before he proved what an asset he can be.
come on ade pull your socks up
A couple of the sources of this story have now changed the name to a director who is actually listed on the web site of the club so maybe there is an element of truth to it. Turkey has a 15% tax rate for footballers, he wont have to play on a Thursday night after they were banned from Europe for match fixing and the cost of living is about 60% of London so he would live like a king. They also have a relaxed night life which I'm told, is Ade's great passion at times...
Ade's never done it in his second season, it'd be a gamble to keep him.. I don't think we can afford to take that risk. Agree on Defoe - we know what we'll get from him but it ain't enough these days.
