lets get it into perspective rafael most of what is said here is harmless banter , nobody with a brain feels any serious dislike for any driver unless they have a brussel sprout instead of the before mentioned brain ,
this is a english forum with mainly english people on it so a foreign driver that is doing all the winning is never going to be johhny popular on here amongst a small minority -
fraid it goes with the territory on any english forum when a favoured english driver is constantly decimated and pulverised by a foreign ace it is bound to ruffle the odd feather here and there --
the moral of the story is if vettel was english he would be worshiped on every english sports forum including this one like a demi god from mount olympus -
as he is not english but german he is not ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- it really is that simple
Kimi Raikkonen
Nico Rosberg
Mark Webber
Fernando Alonso
Just a few of the foreign drivers in F1 that are liked and respected throughout Great Britain.
2 are World Champions, 1 is currently dismantling the almighty Lewis having taken 2 GP victories this year compared to Lewis' 0.
Looking back at the previous greats of the sport, the same courtesy has been offered to Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Gilles Villeneuve, Mika Hakkinen, Juan Manuel Fangio and many more. None of them are British yet all are loved and admired throughout the UK.
Go on, insult and belittle your way out of that, martial.
T and A
you really do need to read my post more thoroughly TA ,
did you not see the words " small minority " - in general the majority of people on these kind of forums are fairly neutral towards foreign drivers but a " small minority " are not -
------------ that was the gist of my point
Ok. I'll hold my hands up and admit I ballsed that one up.
Sorry.
If Vettel was English he would have been knighted by now.
I don't mind the Sebastian hate that much from the British crowd. What bothers me is the delusion amongst many that he is a average driver who got lucky with the best car and Newey. Which isn't the case.

i would"nt worry about it raffa , the reality is vettel is ultra quick and ultra smart and is getting better and more accomplished on every level and the staggering thing is nowhere near reaching his peak yet -
the reality is he will win alot more races and in all probability will go on to be the most successful driver of all time --
4) He is perceived to be cocky and arrogant which he isn't. In fact the same people idolize even more cockier drivers like Kimi.
----------------------------------------------
Admitted I am a Raikkonen fan - I don't think he is cocky and arrogant.
Why all the hatred for Raikkonen? Maybe I should make an article yea?

No one hates Vettel on here. Most people are just not convinced he is all that because of the car advantage he has which to be fair to him isn't his fault.
When he proves he can do it somewhere else, we will all bow down and worship him.
It's funny you complain about Vettel hate when Hamilton is arguably the most hated F1 driver but you do not leap to his defence too. Is it because you despise him as well?

Why do people dislike Vettel so much?
They don't.
The question should be “Why do people rate Vettel?” That question is easy to answer – they know nothing about F1.
Rafael's curls "I am not Wayne and Robin" (U17937) comment regarding Kimi proves my point.
So the people that rate Vettel know nothing about f1 according to you?
What a laughable comment really.
Daredevil
I don't hate Hamilton. In fact I don't hate any f1 driver. I just don't rate him at Vettel's or even Alonso's level.
There's no doubt that Vettel is a class act, but as has been said before, he needs to prove he can do it in a car that isn't miles ahead of the field.
The thing that winds me up is that there are people out there who consider Jenson Button of being an undeserving World Champion because of how quick the BGP-001 was, yet these same people brand Vettel as one of the greatest drivers ever despite having the same advantage. The only difference being that Vettel has only had half a season in the last 3 years without that advantage, while Button only had half a season with that advantage.
It's not hate, not for most i assume anyway. I just find it frustrating how things seem to fall in favour for him a lot of the time, safety cars etc and feel for webber that he always seems to play second fiddle.
As for being the 'best driver' I can't agree. If all drivers raced the same car he'd be nowhere near Alonso. I'd have him around 5/6/7th I reckon.

Exactly, couldn't have put it better myself
Let's also not forget JB has won races at Honda, Brawn and McLaren, proving his achievements. Once Vettel can be as dominant in another team the doubts will end
What is staggering is those few who have this very much one sided opinion, without any acknowledgement of others achievements, or reputations etc.
Put simply - Vettel is an excellent driver, with robot like consistency, AND he has the best car. A good mixture for world championships.
Hamilton, is widely regarded by experts and peers to be the fastest driver, which of course cannot be a factual based theory as its impossible to tell, but there is a lot of evidence out there to suggest that.
Vettel is disliked, because of the points made by the OP or a culmination of those. Wrongly in my opinion, as i think hes a top fella, and a proper winner, Ruthless, very schumacher esq.
i went to an evening with Johnny Herbert who wasnt short of his praise of Lewis Hamilton and the fact he is very old school. He believed Lewis was the type to want to win with the same equipment as others, i.e prove himself as the best. However, he said vettel is very close to schueey, and has the same attitude as him, which in Johnnys time, Schuey was the only one to have this attitude. The attitude was to win at all costs......ALL COSTS. Whatever it takes, even if it means to be unsportsman like. Its probably a large reason why he has 7 world titles, and Vettel has 3.
its not a fashionable or popular or even honourable attitude, but it gets results.
With the same equipment i think Hamilton would beat Vettel, not because i like Hamilton more, but i just think he would. However, FORMULA 1 IS MUCH MORE THAN A DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP!
Some people seem to think that if you don't class Vettel as the very best then it is disliking him or hating. I myself have said many times I think he is the third best driver in F1. That is pretty high praise, I don't know how it can be viewed otherwise.
However, his only competition is Mark Webber, who on his day is good but he is inconsistent and finds himself in incidents way too often. Any top driver would crush Webber, and make no mistake Vettel is a top driver.
If the top ten drivers all were in a Red Bull (with equal wings ) then Lewis and Fernando would contest the championship. That is of course opinion because all we can go on is performance v a team-mate and how good the team-mate in question is.

Despite Senna's obvious ridiculous talent I can't think of a single other driver who gets looked at through rose tinted glasses by so many!

RAP, that's an excellent point. I remember having a debate on the old 606 about a guy who felt Hamilton was undeserving of a McLaren drive and I asked him whether he had watched him in the lower formulae and he said he hadn't.
McLaren spotted the talent, gave him a chance and he delivered. However some people think he delivered because of a Mercedes engine and a power advantage. Heaven knows why Force India haven't been delivering as well and the full factory Mercedes team.
They have Mercedes engines too.
I personally have no problems with Vettel, he's maximised his opportunity well and if I had the fastest car on the grid, I would want him as one of my drivers.
However if the car isn't the fastest on the grid, I would prefer Alonso, Hamilton or Kimi to drive as I'm not entirely convinced yet that Seb has the racecraft they do
