I thought Arsenal got first option on him ? plus from Spain reports he is very happy at Barcca
I feel we're wasting our time with this bid but considering we approached Fabregas' representatives last month and we were knocked back by the player and we've now made a bid, perhaps there's been some indication from Barcelona recently that they're willing to sell which after losing Thiago, I find very hard to believe or there's been some indication from the player which again I find hard to believe.
It's positive news whatever happens because it shows Moyes is determined to improve an area of the team which a lot of fans have wanted addressing for the best part of 4-5 years now.
More chance of finding a pork chop in a kosher butchers.
The biggest question over this signing is why we have only just made a bid? Was Thiago the No1 target and so as we missed out we've bid for Fabregas?
Surley Barca would have accepted a bid before they sold Thiago as it would have given them more cash than they got for him and also strengthen Their case that with Fabregas gone Thiago would get more game time??

I think it will happen, why wouldn't cesc want to work under a world-class manager like moyes.
Barcelona just lost 7-0 to Bayern Munich. Perhaps they're trying to make a massive rejig of the side starting with Neymar in a more central position than some of us thought he would play.
And the man to miss out is Fabregas.

Agree with this totally.

The Red Side, alright mate
With the quality players listed on the OP, we can't say SAF didn't try.... Ok not hard enough maybe but it's somewhat clear that he too recognised our problem even though he was too pig headed to admit it most of the time.
On a side not; who's going to make it into the first team this season in your opinion?
Not sure why Fabregas would want to leave Barca.
After Messi he was the most played player at Barca last season and with Xavi only getting older Fabregas will become even more important at Barca in coming seasons.

Oh I'm not suggesting he didn't try RS, I'm just saying after all the comments I've read from people recently saying we won't sign a midfielder, this is great news.

The four players who would be most likely to see some first team football this season are obviously Januzaj and then Lingard and Keane who are already on tour and Larnell Cole. I expect the more experienced players out of that bunch to go out on loan at some stage although finding the right club to suit Lingard's and Cole's style of play may prove difficult.
Would love the signing but don't think it will come off. As someone previously mentioned, couldn't see them selling Fabregas after losing out on Thiago, maybe had he been sold before Thiago.
How many of those players did the club actually bid for?
Cesc to United wont happen. Deep down everyone knows that.
Centre midfield will be strengthened this transfer window though I'm very confident of that.
From the OP, only Hazard and Lucas were bid for.
There's zero evidence we bid for any of the others. There may have been admiring glances from our direction - maybe even an enquiring or two behind the scenes.
Its one thing that Moyes has recognised the midfield issue - its another thing entirely to suggest this will mean we will actually sign a quality midfielder.
Week by week our options seem to be getting slimmer or the prices will get higher

based on what evidence?
often, these transfer windows can start slow, then one player leaves (Thiago) and it starts a ripple effect.
We could see Bayern sell a MF, then the buying club will sell a MF... so on and so on.
After getting humiliated by Bayern, it is more than possible that Barca want to shake things up and have new MF targets to compliment the rich attackers they have. Maybe someone a bit more aggressive than Cesc.

Will or won't we get Fabregas?
