Oh, well if a few people from Germany don't know who he is then most of the players in Europe must not either. Impeccable logic.
I can only talk for here in Portugal.... But most of my friends were impressed with the Moyes signing, they certainly knew and respected the guy.
He is not the biggest of names and so what. They will get to know about him after he delivers us the league and everyone sees Zaha rip the PL to shreds.
We don't buy big stars from foreign leagues generally. We buy established players in the PL and young foreign prospects.
The exposure of PL football within Europe alone will grab the attention of many PL viewers regardless of where they live. The difference is not about knowing who Moyes is but rather how highly they rate him.

well, all i can say is that nobody i talk to about football here knew who when he was announced.
..............
Hippo,
One of my neigbours is originally from Oberstdorf, and he knows who Moyes is.
Granted he knows very little about him.
Ji - Where do you live in Portugal ? reason I was asking was just came back from holiday on the Algarve and was thinking of buying something possibly. The climate is fantastic, fresh fish, Superbok, Sagres, nice people, easy to get to etc etc

well everyone knows who moyes is now obviously
...............
He knew who he was before. He watches football on Fox, same as any football fan over here.
I'm really not. Go to Italy, the prem is massive there.
As it is in most other countries around Europe, that all have talented players as well.
I don't necessarily agree that it should be, but there's no doubting the reputation of the premier league around the world. Of all the top leagues it is the best sold product.
Prem Kings, I agree that how highly they rate him is the important thing, but I was questioning the absurd notion that nobody outside of England will know who he is.
And as Rob says, if they didn't before they will now.
OK Ji... actually didn't visit there.
Went to Lagos..Tavira..Olhao...Silves..Alvor..Carvoeiro..Lagos..
Vilamoura...
ahh nice... Alvor is probably my favourite place on the south coast... only a couple of miles from us.
It's a great time to buy... some ridiculous bargains to be had.
If you liked Alvor, check out this real estate - http://www.arabiscos.com/
Cheers Ji.. I will take a look...

barcalona place less emphasis on the manager. and they are a club situated in a beautiful place. their name and brand of football is something unique and it's like a culture. players join them because of this. you can't compare this to utd
Yes because I have followed La Liga for years.
I find it interesting how our league has so many foreign players yet these players won't really know anything about the league until they come here, using Hippo's logic.
Good point Darren.
How many players know who Alan Pardew is? Or where Newcastle is?
Yet half of the French league moved there.
I think sam allardyce and mark hughes kind of ruin this theory dont they?
if anything chelsea and man city proved that if teh money is right people are prepared to give up promising careers to rot on benches, oh and hulk
Players know through their agents and the endless free time they have to watch satellite TV and play C.manager
Certainly PL is everywhere in Asia and AFrica.
I tend to agree having lived in many countries that it's not always massive amongst the nationals. Of course it's shown wherever there are expats and Irish bars etc.
Surely, even if a player didn't know who Moyes was... It would take all of an hour or so to fully understand his histroy, philosophy and style.
They would also have the luxury of chatting to the guy before signing, if they were interested in a move to UTD.
I know footballers are not always the brightest sparks, but they are not completely without thought.

Managers such as Jose, Pep, Wenger and Fergie are attractive to players though. It will take Moyes a few seasons of success to reach their level, in terms of how they are respected
Cheg, while what you say is true these managers have also been turned down by players in the past and will continue to be turned down by them in the future.
I don't think Wenger's rep has helped him sign top players recently as none have moved there and the ones they did have have moved on to bigger and better things.
Cheezus don't you get it? Its 95% the money, 3% the manager, and 2% the club. Messi loves Barca. He's also the worlds highest paid footballer. So love isn't quite enuf on its own. Welcome to 2013.
