It really would be a step backwards if he were to re-introduce players he's identified as surplus to requirements.
Wolfie and Cinci, most people do not believe that Sako will be with the club for much longer and yet KJ has no qualms about playing him in front of some of the "youngsters"
Double standards?
Maybe he has had a sit down with each player and drawn his conclusions from there?
Sako is positive about the season while doumbia for example may seem disinterested?
I dont see any issue with bringin back doyle, doumbia or the pizza man. What have they done wrong? Doyle in particular. Kj said doyle isnt playing because he earns too much and must be sold. I disagree with that for 3 reasons.
1) we're getting rid of ward, ohara and johnson with henry already gone. Surely we can support one large wage for a season especially as were still getting the parachute payment.
2) hes far better than edwards and would do a really good job in this league
3) even if he does get sold why not use him in the meantime. Hes using sako.
Also with regards to the youngsters at the small squad yes its good pr and good for morale at the moment but will we all be as happy if we're 10th half way through the season or barely have enough players to field a full bench?
Wolfie
Someone suggested that KJ is a yes man to the two M's. I think he's his own man, especially as he's left out all the big earners.
.............................................................................
I think you're 100% right there wolfie.
Morgan and Moxey are money men, they would know that labelling a player as not fit to even train with the first team squad can only have a detrimental effect on their saleability.
I'm sure that this hard line is KJ making it crystal clear that he's the boss - it's his way or the highway.
Apologies if I missed it, but when has kj said Doyle is out because he earns to much?
Doyle wants out and has been sidelined with an "injury". Plus, he is not match fit.
DJ. You are always on about me criticizing MM. That's not true. I praised him for getting us up, but it was clear to some on here that he was out of his depth in the Premiership very soon into the first season. We went backwards from that first season. But it's quite pointless bringing up this argument again. Funny how you always accuse me of bringing up his name tho'. On the contrary, it's been others recently and now you've done it again. Hypocrite springs to mind.
As for SS, he wasn't here long enough and it's my opinion he was sacked too soon. But hey, that's just my opinion. Yours was different, so there's no right or wrongs.
DS was a novice and it was clear to me that he wasn't going to keep us up, despite his "I know how to get us out of this league" idiotic remark. Well, to be fair, he did. Just a shame it was in the wrong direction.
As for KJ. I feel it's like a breath of fresh air at the club. He's identified the problems and acted upon them. Something all 4 managers previously haven't done.
So yes, I'll sing his praises and hope he gets us back up to the Championship, if not this season then next.
You are the typical poster who sits on the fence and waits for things to go one way or the other. That way you can claim you know it all.
God forbid anyone who challenges the Almighty One.
Cyp, none of know for sure what's going on at the club (except the Almighty One of course). Sako has trained pre-season and may or may not leave. Doyle however has not trained to the same extent and has been sidelined. He's not match fit either.
Anyway DJ, was hoping to hear you views about yesterday if you could?
He will have to step down from heaven first
Let's not forget also that most teams in our league have between 19 and 24 players in their squads. They too will get injuries as the season goes on. At least we have players who will hopefully bring in a few bob when they leave, which will then allow KJ to bring in players, if not in this window then the next.
Maybe if we knock, knock, knock on heavens door, he'll answer.
I would like to know what we should be doing with our youth/young players if we are not going to play them?
Maybe we should loan them out to league one or something........oh wait
Cinci he said it in his post match interview. I think its on the e&s site.
The youth players should play if they're good enough if not they should play the u21 games. Thats what theyre designed for. I personally don't care how old a player is, where they come from or how much money they earn. The only thing im worried about if whether they're good enough to get us promoted
Only one way to find out mike, play them and see.
But I have no doubt we will be in a better position a year from now with the likes of Evans, Ismail etc having played plenty of games, rather than going back to players who clearly have no future with the club.
For what its worth i would not play sako either.
Should be able to see if they're any good from training and the development games. I'm not suggesting we go back to the old players but I'd rather we bought players proven at this level to compliment the youth team and boost the squad.
If half way through the season we haven't got enough players due to injuries/suspensions and playing in 3 different cup games so are struggling the fans will turn and there'll be no experience to drag us through. I don't see how that's beneficial to the club or the young players. I don't expect us to get promoted with the squad we have at the moment. The first 11 looks good but there's not much below that
I wouldn't worry mike, we have been actively seeking players, a few will come in.
But it may be a case of waiting til we offload, sadly not many club want to take players who have done little in a couple of years.
So what do we do if we can't sell those players. Keep paying their wages but have a weak squad?
I thought we played ok on Saturday although didn't create one clear cut chance all game. But then neither did Preston.
I thought Batth was outstanding defensively and the 4-2-3-1 formation worked well and would be my line up of choice. Evans was always in the game although gave quite a few loose passes. While I thought Davis was our best player on the day.
Going forward Sigurdarson and Griffiths had some good moments but didn't really get much change out of their defence. While Sako was good for half an hour then poor for the last hour. Edwards played I believe but as usual didn't see him do anything of note. Cassidy and Foley both did well when they came on but the three enforced changes came within 20 minutes of each other either side of the break and did disrupt us for a while and Preston had their best period as a result.
Overall pretty encouraging and the fact we didn't score wouldn't worry me cause there are certainly goals in this team.
Cheers DJ, seems to be the general consensus from what i have read elsewhere.
Plenty of resasons to be cheerful, just a shame we lost Stearman(though i know you disagree ).
Stearman did ok on Saturday till he went off. I do think we need to bring in another defender.
Don't know how Davies got away with so many fouls on Saturday. He got Stearman and was guilty of lots of pushes on Batth and 2 bad fouls on Evans and also clobbered Ikeme who needed treatment. No exaggeration to say he deserved to be booked on 6 occasions
What if...all of our players got injured and we had to play a development team?
What if....
What if....
What if....
That just about covers tonight's conversations
What if Kenny Jackett got bit by a giraffe?
I thought I read somewhere that Ricketts hit the bar and Griffiths had an attempt cleared off the line. Are they not considered creatative chances, especially as the ball has to get to them in the first place.
I do wonder if some on here actually go to games.
