There is no "team" there IMO just a bunch of egomaniacal divas. The unforgivable world cup debacle proves it.

They aren't team players. You have some individual World Class players i.e. Ribery, Benzema, Lloris but then you've got some unreliable and despicably poor team players. But their squad as players are top class to me.

They are much more of a shambles than we are. I wouldn't say they are any better than us in all honesty.

They've got some quality players but just don't play well together and their football is a shît to watch as ours.

In all honesty I cannot remember the last time I was entertained by France. Even when they won the World Cup they weren't entertaining. They were like a Mourinho team with Zizou being the only shining light (but what a light it was).

Overrated zizou. Only did the occasional moments of class, rarely turned up in games.

I agree France are a really poor team, it's not that the players are woefully awful but there is nothing there that gets you on the edge of your seat. To think some people had them down as contenders at the Euros.

To think some people had them down as contenders at the Euros.
------------------------------------------------------------
I think they only reason people think that is because they have a reputation. So basically because of their reputation of winning Trophies, they'll bounce back and win them again.

But that's not happening for me. They need more team meetings, a better structure and plenty of friendlies to pull them together again. It could take up to 10 years for them to recover.

France were favoured at the last Euros because they went into the tournament on the back of a 21-game unbeaten run.

As for their future perspectives, they've just won the U-20 World Cup.

France definitely have the talent to make an impression at a tournament but the whole mentality in the team is just messed up! I don't think they can shake the ghost of the world cup debacle. All the players involved in that debacle should have been given lifetime bans by the FA. I just couldn't believe those idiots could put ego before country.

Les Français sont merde

posted on 7/9/13

Wump, imo part of the question is how strong a sense of 'country' they have.

A large part are 2nd generation immigrants. As can be seen in the multitude of riots they've had in recent years, France hasn't failed to integrate this large immigrant population into its society. There are many problems. All this adds to the sense of hurt brought about by an all too often oppressive and sinister colonial past.

So I imagine it doesn't down go too well with these guys when they're lambasted at the first upset by a predominantly 'traditional' French media and fan base, a section which has its own agenda and is quick to point to their lack of 'national sentiment' as the main underlying problem.

That's how I see it from the outside at any rate, that in some way it ties in with a much larger social problem.

Or maybe it's just bullshít.
