It's the money league now. Most clubs will whóre themselves out for a quick fix.
Everton owners wee due to change the clubs crest. I don't think they're foreign.
Think they were trying to move with the times.
However, the fans were in uproar and the idea has been abolished, I believe.
I'd be upset if United changed name, badge, etc but I'm sure I'd get used to it.
Everton have changed their badge
Arsenal should change their name to the red squirrels. Arsenal and the gunners is too violent these days, time for a change to something nicer
Haaha and are they foreign owners Bloop?
Cash and sponsorship is king, nothin more nothin less.
What's Hull's nickname now
Hull City Tigers - does sound very IPL'ish doesnt it!
The thing is the fans complain but they are indirectly the cause of it. The demand to be competitive requires money which rich owners will bring in but these are not people who will sit there and be berated by the fans because they're not investing as there's no money coming in.
The decision to change Cardiff's kit will certainly provide a big boost economically particularly in Asia where the money is at the moment. Why do you think there have been so many tours out there this pre-season. It's a previously untapped source of income.
Granted, the owners should have discussed with the fans the ideas they have but if it helps in the success of the club I'm sure the fans will understand in the long run.
We're still going to be calling them Hull City anyway, I really don't see why it's caused a massive uproar.
What do ya think of liverpool leprechauns kelly??
I understand the financial part, but surely something else can be done than the obvious of changing the colour of the kit.
If the Liverpool owner changed Liverpool's colour to blue. Would you jump in joy? Or form a line to punch the guy in the face for changing it?
"I'd be upset if United changed name, badge, etc but I'm sure I'd get used to it. "
They did change the badge some time back by removing the words "Football Club". There was talk recently of restoring those words - not sure if they have done so or not.
The change was made prior to the American owners taking over. I think it was to reflect the fact the club was more a merchandising operation than a football club

Cardiff are not going to get big in Asia just because they changed their kit/badge.

Where's the queue?
Everton have changed their badge
Only for a season.
We used to be blue and white so it would be pretty hypocritical for us to be upset about going blue although obviously fans will be.
I understand why the fans complain but I'm just saying that they are actually a big reason why it happens.
This is a good article. Funny to see how much badges have changed over the years.
And then I forget to post the link

Can't say i agree mate,it's just a show of egotism and power wielding.
It's not like this is a new phenomena brought on by solely foreign ownership.
Teams have changed shirt colours before, there was uproar about the addition of shirt sponsors in the 70s and 80s, teams alter badges.
Certainly a drastic kit colour change of red to blue or vice versa seems extreme, but I don't hear too many Cardiff fans complaining about getting away from 'unlucky' blue now that they're in the prem
more clubs should follow crystal palace and bring in cheer leaders
In my opinion every group of fans in the country should be trying to regain control of their football club and turn them into not for profit member-owned clubs. Supporter Direct can help.
If you dont then if affraid fans will just have to put up with owner who have no respect for the history and traditions of the club. So long as clubs make more from TV and sponsorship fans will never to treated right.
Abramovich only bought Chelsea because he discovered that Real and Barca could not be purchased by any individual or group. He didnt care about Chelsea or their traditions he just wanted a club to play with, Chelsea just happened to be available at the right time. And what happens when he decides he cant be bothered anymore?
Utd's financial clout is used to sevice debt, Arsenal's cash is never reinvested, Spurs have crazy man in charge, Man City is not sustainable, Villa have been run into the ground and fans should be worried, then we have QPR, Pompy, Leed's and Blackburn.
You have many clubs that have been run so poorly that without the big TV deals clubs would be in a lot of trouble.
Fans need to take control.

Not really sure why foreign owners have been brought into it, particularly considering Allam, the chairman of Hull, is British... This kind of thing happens regardless of nationality.
I would also say that you haven't mentioned probably the biggest example of tradition not being taken into account - Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes, an idea first mooted back in the sixties/early seventies.
