22m clause in fellani's contract that everyone knew about and yet no one bid that for him. Quite telling if u ask me.

Two bids of £12m rejected for Baines.

We will want £40m for the pair.

£17m for Baines and £23 for Fellers?

posted on 19/8/13

they will want 15 for baines and no less then 23 for fellaini then prob 25, doubt utd will pay that if the release was 23 and they never took it up mancblueloz 40 is prob right doubt it will get paid though.

The idea that Woodward bid 12m for Baines, to come back and reportedly bid exactly the same two months later is perhaps the stupidest thing I've ever seen in the transfer window, Andy Carroll aside.

Don't want them

I was thinking that, hadn't you guys already bid 12 million for Baines and 16 for Fellaini? I'm not sure why, if they were both rejected, 28 million for the pair would be any different!

Bill Kenwright hasn't got two pennies to rub together. All he is doing is trying to 'up' the bid.

I'd actually love to see both of them stay at Everton. We don't need 'em, and Kenwright's face would be a picture. He'll not get the money he so desperately craves, nor will he be able to reduce his wage bill.

Martinez, who I like for footballing reasons, is simply shooting off the usual manager's verbiage, so no criticisms there.

Juan we reduced the wage bill when Moyes and Neville left by about 8m a year. We don't need your cash but if you want our players ie Moyes then he will pay top dollar. Simples.

Agreed Juan Kerr.

I really don't think people know just how broke Everton are.
Of course we'll pay a bit more than £28 million but people are deluded if they think that we'll automatically 'have to' pay more than Fellaini's release clause of a few weeks back.

This is good business sense because the club know just how broke Everton are and unlike the sugar daddy clubs, we'll pay an amount which isn't even £1 million over what it should be.

We are not broke but neither flush. We used to pay 70p of every £1 for finch farm since the council bought it we save 2/3rds of that figure.

The new tv money has boosted our finances also.

Derisory and insulting seem to be the way United do their transfer negotiations ..

Why, because we had the nerve to submit a bid?

I am happy with the strong nature of this statement and that we will not be pressured or bullied by United.

I would be happier if we didn't sign both of them

And Martinez's contract has spunked all that money up the wall.

agreed

Martinez is not on a big contract not anywhere near what Moyes was on who was the highest earner at the club.

How much was Moyes picking up at Everton?

posted on 19/8/13

£4.5m a year or around that figure. He's one of the highest paid managers in world football, well when at Everton.

How is bidding for a player bullying? Have Everton never bid for a player before?

The bid was laughable in my opinion yes but bidding for a player is hardly bullying. It's how football transfers occur

Blackbeard,

How much compensation did you have to pay Wigan for Martinez? That would have an impact considering you didn't get anything for Moyes.

I agree though, your finances aren't that bad. You are not in a position where you need to sell at all, and certainly not two of your most valuable assets.

It's going to be about 40 million to get them

Agree with that

Pretty sure Everton will want at least that for the pair. 40m could be spent better elsewhere in my opinion

For it to happen, I think you'll need to get up to that price pretty quickly as well Macca. I can't see Everton selling Fellaini and Baines without allowing themselves time to get replacements in.

agreed but Fellaini and Baines were 2 of the top performers in the premier league last year so I think some of you are being harsh. Baines from left back was one of the biggest threats in Europe when it came to chance creations assists etc. And Fellaini was banging them in at one point and practically bullied man utd last season on his own I remember watching it.

You have to take into account how Everton play though Jonjo, he was high up on stats because they overload the left flank and get a lot of crosses in. If United want to play that way then fair enough, with Kagawa, Rooney and RVP though, I think they would be better off keeping the ball on the floor and passing it through.
