Sorry - I was scribbling while you were posting Hound. I sit in the West stand near the away end and I thought it was a mis-kick. Robinson didn't have a good night but these things happen. Forrester looked very promising.

Now Yankee may totally disagree with me here but what I have said will happen, did last night. The players have reached burn out, after these few games early this season they have given 100% and it was inevitable that burn out would hit us, gladly IMO (Wait before jumping plesae) it happened in a cup match that "Yes" could have brought a good money spinner in next round but also could have given us a long journey to a league two team (no disrespect) and a beating. I would rather loose in the Cup - even to Leeds than loose league points which are much more needed. My next point. I have just been on Unnoficial site and J R has already been quoted that the loss could mean loosing Wabarra and Wellens as the club cannot afford them, interestingly also he believes there will remain within the club "A Status Quo", so is the take over gone, is there no investment which will make our life in this league very much harder and how many games will be the wrong result because of 7,000 home fans again last night and this looks like what it will be for now.
Hound, As a businessman you should realise regarding the Leeds fan on one of our threads, that someone will always want to throw a spanner in the works or bad mouth because they (In this case Leeds) are doing well and they consider themselves superior - Well remember my friend that your health is far more important, and in business you would have dismissed such a trouble maker so do just that.

Yes also you realised it was me on Monday in Mondeo. Taken up street cleaning in your spare time mate?

BETTER THINGS IN LIFE MORE IMPORTANT THAN FOOTBALL MY FRIENDS.

WE WAIT AND SEE WHAT COMES OUT OF THE BOARD MEETING. JR HAS HIS POINT BUT WHO KNOWS?

Played to narrow, got destroyed on the flanks, Cotterill kept wandering off on a mission and forgetting his defensive duties, leaving Husband 2 v 1. Wabara did the same, left so much for them it was embarrassing.

The thing what sticks in my mind is why weren't we cutting out the crosses better, cos every time it came into the box Smith won it. Jones had an off day, I hope, beaten in the air, left for dead on the ground.

The turning point for me, well 2 actually, Theo missing that sitter, but how the hell can a player not get send off for " that tackle " . Yet again, another pi55 poor ref who bottled it.

Didn't want a cup run, just wanted to beat them

O well, back to the league, 5-0 or more or I'll not be happy.

BVZ and azza - we were saying the same about Wabarra at the game.
He did get exposed on a few occasions by getting too far forward.
Also, we stood off their wide men and allowed them to get crosses in which Smith was drooling over.
Also, Turnbull doesn't come into the mix enough for me.
Most times when a keeper comes for a ball in the air he only has to get blown on to get a free kick so he should be helping the defenders out a bit more by coming for balls.
The ones I am talking about are in and around the six yard box, the keepers domain.

I expressed doubts about Turnbull at Charlton. He made some good saves which wouldn't have been necessary if he had come off his line sooner, but I suppose the. GK coach should notice these things and work on them.

albis - sorry, i called you azza in an earlier post - i must read things properly.
You were close to the leeds end, do you think that Smith fouled oompalumpa for the second goal.
I have seen it once on the tv and it looks like Smith had his hands on his back and held him down to get his leverage to head the ball in.
If so then that is another poor decision by the ref following his failure to send off Pearce in the first half.

This is usually the time for JR to make a statement about us getting a raw deal from officlals and yes it's emotional and maybe we do see things through rose-tinted spectacles and don't recognise our own good luck, but by heck we really do seem to have had a rough time in the last 2 games. You wonder whether Saturday's game would have been abandoned if Leeds had been in our position after 25 minutes and whether Keegan would have been yellow carded for either of his minor offences, let alone sent off.

On Tuesday cynical listerners like me had severe doubts about the red card forecast by our commentators with absolute certainty for Pearce for his tackle on Copps. Experience tells us that this was an issue to be judged (not necesarily consciously in the ref's mind) by reference to the relative status of the parties; mighty Leeds with twice as many angry vociferous fans as poor Doncaster Rovers whose players are not as valuable or expensive to damage as anybody else's except Yeovil's. On occasions like this the man in the middle can be expected to be complimented for "good refereeing" by the modern ex-player pundits (and only ex-players can be pundits on TV nowadays) by not sending the player off.

Equally the penalty incident might have been seen differently if the man brought down had been wearing hoops as the coming together began outside the box even though the decisive leg went in just inside it. Had the offending boot been on a Leeds leg, I can hear Steve Claridge saying "You can understand why the ref didn't give it".

The joys of being a little club... All our goals are off-side or flukes or a direct result of playing when conditions are a "joke".

I note a trace of cynicism, Donaldo.

Here you are Fuzzy. You can gage this answer..What result other than LOST have we had with Mathieson (?) refereeing Donny over last 5 yeras, can you find ONE? just one

Scott Mathieson was the man in charge when Leeds United made the short trip to Doncaster Rovers for their Capital One League Cup tie on Tuesday night.

The Cheshire official has previously taken charge of 3 games this season, showing 5 yellow cards and no reds.

Last season, he took charge of 38 games, showing 105 yellow cards and 8 reds.

He has taken charge of Doncaster on 14 previous occasions. They have won 6, drawn 4 and lost 4. Doncaster won both their games he was in charge of last season.

He has taken charge of Leeds on 12 previous occasions with them winning 6, drawing 2 and losing 4.

Leeds Blog under the heading "Demolition of Doncaster":
"A familiar face brought the scores level. Many of the 3,000 Leeds fans there will not have seen Billy Paynter score for Leeds but on 63 minutes he lost his marker in the penalty area to head home. Jason Pearce could have done better to stick with his man BUT IT WAS HIS ONLY FLAW IN A DECENT PERFORMANCE BY THE DEFENDER."

You could interpret this as suggesting that to this Leeds fan dangerous tackles are not "flaws", but a useful component of a decent performance, or is it just selective amnesia?

On reflection, "Demolition" might have been a word subconsciously inspired by the tackle in question.

It would have been interesting to get his take on how they might have fared with 10 men for 65 minutes, but perhaps you could only expect that from a serious journalist.

"WHO CARES ABOUT A FOOTBALL RESULT"

I do not.

Some people, like me and others, have more important things in life BUT I still support the Rovers and go when I am not doing MORE IMPORTANT things!

posted on 29/8/13

Sorry Hound. Been away doing things that are, apparently, more important than football. Despite my good position when Smith scored Leeds' second I didn't see the infringement. (Most avid supporters are figuratively a bit one-eyed about their team. I am literally one-eyed.) To be fair defenders and strikers in penalty areas drag each other around wholesale. We win some we lose some. You can't take it away from Smith - he was as dangerous for Leeds as he was last season for Oldham. A good buy for them.

posted on 29/8/13

I agree that it goes both ways and that Smith is very good when the ball is in the air.
However, I do think that this was a blatant climb on our player and was very obviously a foul.

tidos - we ALL have more important things in our life than football but it doesn't stop us caring about a football result.

IONLY MATE, THERE ARE LOTS OF THINGS IN LIFE TO CARE ABOUT, AS YOU KNOW.
We have all lost loved ones just the same as you have.
Football just happens to be one of them for me, and for others by the sound of things.

Yes but. I do not depend on what Donny do to live.
