Not a bad draw
I would have preferred a lesser team like City but lets be honest, we could have had a tougher draw and got Cardiff
I think that will work in our favour to be fair. Surely 4 games within 12 days will be too much for your first teamers and you will play your kids/reserves. Let's face it, this game is the least important out of those RVP mentioned
Just play the youngsters. We lose, nothing to cry about, we win, brilliant experience for the youth team.
I reckon since most teams have regularly used the League cup/ early FA Cup rounds to use squad/fringe/youth players United have hardly ever had an 'easier' draw. We've almost always had a Premier league team in the FA cup.
I believe, as we are probably the biggest TV draw, if we draw a smaller team there will be less viewers wanting to watch our reserves play a lower league team. So we get drawn against a PL team, ensuring we field a strongish team as we don't want a pasting, making it more of a spectacle, thus boosting TV ratings.
Interesting theory Barf. You might be onto something.

It's just luck and nothing more
Less likely to see a lot of the youngsters now.
Hopefully at least one will start.
It's Liverpool, early in the season so we should play the first team. 3 big games in 7 days, time to show a statement of intent.

Wouldn't mind seeing Giggs
I'm hearing good things about him
Might make a league cup ticket worth going to see, good chance for some young players I hope.
Nah Macca, he'll never make it at United.
Interesting coincidences.
When Cantona returned from his ban, the first game he was available for was United v Liverpool.
When Ferdinand returned from his ban, the first game he was available for was United v Liverpool.
When Suarez returns from his ban, the first game he will be available for is United v Liverpool.
Suarez has had like three bans though hasnt he? Probably lowers the odds a little...
I think we should play a strong team, United can't be going out of competitions to Liverpool. The sooner Moyes wins his first competitive trophy the better in my opinion and the League Cup is the perfect opportunity to get one under the belt for the new manager.
If it were good enough for JoesB
This is a tricky tie because I'm not convinced we want the c.o.c as much as Liverpool do
Just saying
