I's settle for that atm. Better than nothing, but I would love to see a real top quality cm come in.
If we were to sign these two when the window opened ans then had failed bids for fabregas possibly thiago after I think fans would bw content as it is they seem like last minute/panic buys and a bit of a let down considering the names we have been linked with (albeitIin the tabloids). The I other thing that makes their potential signings less exciting is yhe players spurs have signed - I really wanted ua to bid for lamela I just didn't think roma would let him go
Apparently the bid for the pair will be upped to around £38m. I'm not sure of the breakdown but going off our poor negotiations thus far, I'd expect it to be £26m for Fellaini and STILL £12m for Baines.
Don't get me wrong they'd be decent additions though lacking in european experience, it just does'nt excite me.
I'd be surprised if we get anybody at the moment. It wouldn't surprise me if Everton don't sell one f the two, probably Baines.
i think they both should hand in transfer requests or miss out on signing for us one and for all
Every single player at some stage had no European experience, means nothing really.
Not so sure about that chab, european football is referreed totally different to the prem, it's a learning curve for lots of players, what may seem innocuous in the prem will get you a red card in europe.
No different to international level though Earl. Something's Fellaini has experience in playing.
Dwight Yorke had no CL experience when he joined United. But he took to the big stage and CL football like a duck to water.
I am always of the opinion that when you sign a player in their prime that it's best that the player in question is taking a step up in his career...they tend to be more motivated as they are desperate to prove themselves at the highest level. Fellaini and Baines fall into that category. I believe both will be huge successes at United if they join.
In my opinion Fellaini will join but Baines won't. I just can't see Everton letting their best two players leave at the same time so close to the end of the transfer window.
@earl first thing is to win the league and I think if we git both of them it would clearly improve our squad and the options available for moyes. Im like you though about not being that excited. For me it doesn't even have to be a marquee signing likw bale or Ronaldo even a young player with potential likw bernard, de brune or draxler would liven up this transfer window
For me, it's like: They come they come, they don't they don't. I really couldn't care less. It's sad that I've never really seen any new signings like this at all.
I think it has a lot that everyone just knew from the minute Moyes was announced as Manager these two players would arrive. Then for Moyes to talk about he plays football through the middle, knows that it is a battle in there and he will find the best players for us, got us all excited and thinking 'Yes, we are going to solve what we have cried for about 4 years for', only to see no results.
Agreed, i half expected moyes to raid everton for these two when he got the job and i know he's actively went for fabregas, but with our midfield options i feel europe is a bridge too far this season again.
DP - what's also galling is all the talk of "united will always be looking at/after the best players" and then we sign baines and fellaini who are good but not in the world class bracket. We must have signed up about tennew asponsors this summer yet no new players

Well there's rumours going 'round that we're in for Kevin Nolan soooo.......er.....no need to worry
It is a joke and it's our own fault for falling for these words and getting our hopes up so high. But as Bruceandpally said, Nolan is on his way

TBH I think Moyes has tripped himself up a little when he said that. He probably was just trying to big up the situation. The reality is that United are rarely in for the 'best' players in the world. 'Signing players that are the best fit for United' would have been more apt.
they would defnitely improve you
but unless Evra's going half the deal seems unecessary. just buy Fellaini. Baines isn't better than Evra and one sitting on the bench seems pointless.
Have a hunch one or two Madrid players may become available when the bale deal completes
Heard last week that till staff and security at the megastore are on standby which came from someone who works at the club. We're still trying to establish if it's a windup or not.
Is anyone else resigned to the fact that these two will probably be the sum of our summer spending ?
As the days tick by it seems likely to be the case, and i feel it's going to be last minute stuff thus ramping the price up on the pair.

Right now I would be grateful for this but it is a sorry state of affairs if we end up overpaying for those two because we have faffed all summer and left it so late.
I can't help but admire the way that clubs like Spurs, Chelsea and City have wrapped up new signings quickly and efficiently while we have laboured all summer to no avail, making sporadic bids for players in scatter-gun fashion without, it seems, ever offering fair value for any of them.
The chubby chick ain't singing yet but she is clearing her throat and I for one am so far unimpressed with our new Exec team. I'll reserve full judgement until the window is shut but my feeling at the moment is that this window has been a shambles.
