MrTweedy ft. Özil 11 is a Gööner

I am not having a go at Ozil because he has signed for Arsenal, far from it, I am merely sayng that I do not think he is the all singing dancing superstar that everybody is making him out to be. Believe me had he signed for Spurs I would have said the same. After 50 yers of following football, I do not do hype, and judge players on what I see. And frankly whenever I have seen Ozil play he has been average at best.

Fair enough Sandy, each to their own I guess. Time will tell!

Sandy - True, Ozil might have only started 23 games last season which makes his 9 goals and 13 assists even more impressive

He has 87 assists over the last 3 years

In his 3 seasons at Real - Ozil made an outstanding tally of 47 assists - most in any league over that period.

Arsenals highest in that time frame is Walcott with 27.
Last season he created over one more chance per game than any other team-mates (2.9) and all despite making his aforementioned nine appearances from the bench. When you exclude his set piece duties Özil set up 57 chances in open play, amounting to one every 31.3 minutes, on average. In comparison to the best respective figure at Arsenal last season - Santi Cazorla, every 43.5 minutes - it's obvious what he will add to their side.

The elephant in the room here is that you have clearly never seen him play. You'd have to be watching the Champions League to do that.

And this is in a 2 horse race league where RM & Barca dominate. I will wait to see if he replicates these stats in the PL.

??????Why?????? Real were on Sky most weekends & often midweek too, would say they had at least 15 live matches on Sky last season if not more!

Both messi and Ronaldo are capable of scoring 50 plus goals in Spain in La Liga, that many goals by an individual player has not been done in England since around about the late 1920s in the top flight, shows you how much easier it is in Spain to score and get assists. I think I will judge Ozil after a full season, and if he gets the same amount of assists as in Spain I will then hold my hands up.

I agree Sandy, now Serie A is a different kettle of fish & Lamela scored 15 in 33 last season, which is a fair return for a winger come AM.

I think eriksen may prove to be the pick of the bunch, lamela may take a while to settle. Overall I think Lloris has been one of our best buys in the last 10 year keeper, Still can't believe he is ours!.

Makes you wonder why Soldado only scored 59 goals in 101 La Ligua outings then eh Sandy - by tour reckoning he will only get half as many in this much tougher league eh?

That won't apply in Sandyworld

Different criteria can be applied, depending on what nonsense he likes to spout at any particular time
