Anyone Following the Syria Crisis ?

Russia and China could do so much more to end this crap in the middle east.
=================================
It wont be that easy. If they act aggressively that risk losing Syria. They can only act as if they're in the side of the government and advise/tell them to stop secretly.

The US's issue with Iran is their developement of Nuclear Power and therefore the developemnet of Nuclear weapons.
---------

The development of nuclear power does not equate to developing nuclear weapons.

Nuclear energy??

One of those that think religion is the reason for conflicts

Very possibly. Lots of people suggest just abolishing religion and that will "solve all the wars & problems"
--------------------
The ones that want to fight will simply find another excuse

Religion is just a handy platform and will remain one for a long long time yet

When it comes to Syria, I guess I am split. But for me, the same situation exists. Most of the country will just want to live as best as they can when the few will fight each other for ultimate power and control, with 100s of thousands getting nailed in the crossfire

Thinking about it. I'd stay out of it because to me, it appears one side is every bit as bad as the other

..............

No it doesn't.

But when their manic of a leader has openly said that he wants to blow Isreal of the face of the earth, you could imagine why this might be of a concern.

I guess you either cannot read, or do not understand what 'incidental' means

I think it might be the latter

What?

The US's issue with Iran is their developement of Nuclear Power and therefore the developemnet of Nuclear weapons.

And the whole world knows about that, and it is a fact, nothing to do with US propoganda.
====================================
Exactly. It's nothing to do with Chemical weapon. People act as it US can't bomb Iran if they want to.

Going into Syria has nothing to do with Iran. If they wanted to use dirty methods to destabilise Iran they'd have done it through Iraq, Turkey, etc.

Does anyone think UK's decision not to intervene via military change the relationship the UK has with the US?

---

I was saying before....What happens when/if the US takes virtually full control of the Middle East, and no longer needs us. Granted we don't have oil or anything like that, but I just get the feeling that when they no longer need us as allies, we'll be cast out to fend for ourselves against the enemies we've made whilst on America's side.

Not really. The US were not going to get this through congress themselves.

certainly not between the president and prime minister....that's the beauty of having lower ranked government officials. you can use them to channel fury!

Makes me laugh how this country can find money for war (if the opposition hadn't done there job), but can't invest in the public services.

As for Syria, Assad was winning the war against what is now Islamic extremist groups, so to use chemical weapons last month and risk western intervention makes no sense. However that's not to say he didn't use them.

But the rebels used Sarin Gas in May and nothing was made of it by the US government, the atrocities committed by these who we have been arming are just as bad as the Assad regime, who in essence are defending there country. Syria needed reform when the first protests emerged, Assad didn't comply that was his biggest mistake.

If the governments of the world want to punish Assad, let it be through sanctions and other similar methods, if they intervene (though a limited military strike would not do much apart from kill innocent civilians) and turn the tide, the next regime in Syria could do some mighty damage, especially with Isreal next door.

If the US Presidential Election was this year instead of last, Obomba would not even consider this.

Regarding Iran and it's nuclear power, the guy who apparently said "Israel will be wiped off the map" is no longer in power, and besides, everyone knows the ayatollahs have the real power.

Also, if any of you have been following the news, you will have read that plenty of people working in the nuclear power plants or for the Iranian government concerning their nuclear power have been assassinated, these follow the hallmarks of Mossad and CIA.

Iran is actually more of a pragmatic country and is in a situation where if they don't make a nuke, they will be attacked, but if they make a nuke then the US, who were wrong on Iraq, will go gloating to the world and say they were right. The latter scenario will leave a already sanctioned to bits Iran in a more volatile state and may leave to rebellion that Israel and the US are keen to foster (there is already a terrorist group in Iran that have recently been taken off the US's terrorist watch list).

The US and the UK do not care about the people of Iraq, Afghanistan or Syria. You just have to see how they support leaders like that of Uzbekistan to understand that if you are their dog, you could do what you like and nothing will happen to you...but that is if you are their dog.

posted on 10/9/13

Glad you mentioned the Uzbekistan regime, there president has done some atrocious things against his people, far worse than Assad pre-civil war.

However the US won't confront this regime as they need to keep there route to Afghanistan open!

I think you are doing them an injustice if you genuinly believe they don't give a chit about lost innocent lives - unlike the 'civilians' that were celebrating the thousands of innocents that died in 9/11

Nobody is a saint but let's not pretend the Western Governrnents enjoy the loss of innocent lives like organisations like Al Qaeda do.

Or the dreadful Taliban regime for that matter.

...............

I do not believe the US was wrong on Iraq. The problem was, by the time they got round to making the decision to invade Iraq, Sadam had removed his WMD's.

I beleive we are seeing some of Sadam's chemical weapons being used in Syria, now.

It was well documented that Sadam used these weapons on the Kurds in his own country, and on Iranian soldiers in the Iran Iraq war.
