evan if he gets past devon(which i doubt) he needs to get in line behind garcia at least anyway for a shot at mayweather, i dnt know why everyone thinks khan will trouble mayweather, yes he has fast hands but little or no power which wont discourage mayweather even if he does land, if guys like garcia can time khan imagine what mayweather would do to him

I'm a Khan fan and I will tell you he has 0 chance off beating FMJ. He is not the first person Floyd has faced with handspeed and FMJ will find a way to combat it and then finish Khan off. There is only one person who can create FMJ problems:

- He has more hand speed than Khan
- Much more power than Khan
- Better chin than Khan
- Can follow team orders and now get involved in a slugfest
- Will create box office records

But there is no point mentioning his name as the fight will never happen.

No way.

Khan has the speed to potentially trouble mayweather but not the skill or mental discipline. He'll get frustrated that he can't hit him with any worthwhile shots before getting counter-punched repeatedly, he'll hear the crowd go "ohhhhhh!" before starting that fake macho bravado where he makes everyone in the arena aware that he's not hurt, before giving it about 20 secs before he tries (and fails) to land some big shots to impress the judges.

I just can't see Khan causing FMJ any problems.

Maybe if he mentions "I've been sparring with Manny Pacquiao" again he may get a shot at FMJ.

Always said it if you have an off switch on your chin and you lead with it you have no chance against any boxer with patience and speed.

P.S Wasn't Floyd the first person to knock out Ricky Hatton? Also tore Arturo Gatti to ribbons.

If Floyd sees the opportunity he will get you out of there.

Willie Limond knocked Khan on the canvas for god sake.

I'm still laughing at bredis Prescott KO

As for his fight with Garcia, had that first knockdown punch landed flush on his chin instead of the neck area he'd been laid out for a week..... But still would have spouted more delusional comments once he woke up:

"Once I beat mayweather, I'm coming for Andre ward!!! I'll whip klitschko's butt too!!!!"

Bredis Prescott - the guy with the .44 magnum who in that smooth voice "nearly took Khan's head clean off"

There was a punch when Khan was on his way down which if connected I feel could have ended Khan's career.

I posted this a couple of months ago but Khan is often accused of getting carried away, throwing the game plan out the window and going looking for a knock-out.

Whilst this is true the accepted wisdom seems to be that he's not disciplined enough. Personally I think he gets impatient because he thinks he's better than the other man. He backs himself and his skills to win the day. Is he going to look across the ring at Mayweather and think 'I'm better than him'? I sincerely doubt it.

If there's ever a fight where Khan is going to stick to a game plan then this is it. Even if he does then it probably wont be enough to win but it might be enough to make it close. Or at the very least, closer than many suspect.

Khan wouldn't even be able to beat Brook. Khan just doesn't impress me at all, even in the few decent fights he has won he's been lucky at times to hang on etc. Even vs McCloskey, McCloskey yes McCloskey was starting to cause him all sorts of problems before the doctor ridiculously stopped it

Nah Khan aint the guy to beat FMJ, tbh he strikes me as the perfect opponent for Mayweather to knock out, which is saying something................he may be quicker than Mayweather but also lacks a big punch, Mayweather is all about going backwards and he has a very good defence the moment he gets hurt/has the slightest chance of getting hurt.

Someone who will give Mayweather problems is a dirty boxer who likes to fight on the inside and get Mayweather to the ropes and unload...........i have no idea who the boxer is but it isnt Khan

I think that's a bit harsh. Khan has decent power, not concussive perhaps but good enough. As far as I can see Khan has one problem and that's punch resistance. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty massive issue to have but I think people get carried away negatively with Amir.

That said, can't argue with the view that he'd lose to FMJ. Just think it might be closer than some think, I'd guess at a 3-4 round margin UD.

Oscar who's Kell Brook again? Never heard off him

Sterling i may not have fully explained my point - re reading it now doesnt quite as much sense as i remember. What i was saying is i Khan doesnt have the 1 shot stopping power which i think is very important for stopping FMJ, as the moment Mayweather feels threatened he does his best turtle impression goes full defensive and backs up and sticks out the jab.

That's fair, Khan is very unlikely land one punch that rocks FMJ enough to stop him putting up effective defences.

I think the type of fighter who would have a chance of beating Mayweather must be quick handed and be able to throw a lot of punches.

Khan has these qualities so I can see where the OP is coming from. However, what he is overlooking is Khan's porous defence and chinnyness.

Mayweather, would undoubtedly land some flush right hand counters and Amir would soon be doing the chicken legs dance.

Offensively though he could give Floyd something to think about in terms of his ability to throw very fast combinations.

A Tommy Hearns kind of talent can beat Mayweather. Someone tall with a long reach who has one punch KO power and a great jab. The Mayweather's said it themselves that you need a excellent jab to have a chance.
