I would give him at least 2 years.
If we became a managerial merry go round club id probably pie off my season tickets.
You can't judge a manager after 6 games. Imagine if we'd done that with fergie. Arsenal are seemingly reaping the reward of sticking by their manager through years where they could have had a case for sacking him and many fans did want him out

I didn't want him in the first place but when he got the job, he had my support.
Call me plastic but I do not think he's up to the job and if we are still midtable by christmas he needs to be sacked.
We should get someone like Hiddink, Van Gaal or even Redknapp temporarily then do all we can to get Klopp from Dortmund.
Worst case scenario is you dont get into the champs league 2 seasons in a row or dont put up a decent title challenge then its fair to sack him. I would like to think man utd are different than other clubs in the sense that they give the manager adequate time to turn things around. He needs to buy in january.

I agree, as a club we need champions league football, and one season without could mean a downward spiral.
I don't think we will be mid table come Christmas though, I'd say we'll be around 6th and the club will invest in january.
My worry, is that Moyes doesn't have the dressing room, there isn't the same feeling about this squad as there was under Fergie. For now, I think the likes of Clevs and Welbs, who will fight and die for the short need to be playing.

Welbeck doesn't need to be playing imo. There's a reason he isn't being selected and it's simply because he isn't very good! The reason you named those two players is because they are both local lads. Would Welbeck being in the team have added to our goal threat? Would we have created more chances? Would we have defended better with him in the team? I would say "no" on all counts.
We are playing really poorly at the minute and Cleverly by and large hasn't featured much in that. So maybe he deserves a chance. But he and Welbeck need to show that when given the chance, they can grasp it and improve us. This "they'll fight and die for the shirt" talk is just lazy and not analysing how things pan out and what they offer when they actually play imo!
Fair enough Steve, but I actually think Welbs would have done a better job than some yesterday. His physique and movement is vastly under rated and we looked like men vs boys yesterday. Perhaps he'd of given the defence something more to worry about, I don't know.
What I do know, is that he and Cleverly would have looked a lot more bothered about the way in which we played yesterday, and would have pressed the ball when we were losing, most of the side looked beaten and as though they didn't want to be there.
aww bless the liverpool wums here
Also, when I opened up 606 this morning and saw this headline, I though Moyes was gone
I agree with you on that. And it bothers me that a change in manager can see players take their foot off the gas and stop doing the thing that made them champions. It doesn't matter if it's moyes, paddy crerrand or rafa Benitez in the dugout, the players should remember what shirt they're wearing and give it their all. The lack of effort is disgraceful and cannot be justified!
If we have guys who think a change of manager gives them a by ball in terms of effort, then they need to be rooted out, quite frankly. It seems extreme but it's up to them to roll their sleeves up and show some bottle right now, more than ever.
Personally, I don't hold with it being a total disaster if we don't get champions league football for a couple of seasons because ultimately we still have the money, infrastructure and profile to bounce back, much like Juve, Milan and Dortmund have had to do in recent years.
I think sacking Moyes this season regardless of our league position will do far more harm than good. We aren't going to get relegated and nor are we going to win the league, but we have a very good manager who will get tk grips with the players and the club given time. If the players have a problem playing for Moyes then sell them and replace them with players who dont have these 120k a week but dont like my boss upper class issues.
Depends on how bad it gets. If we lose the next 3 + games in the pl, you have to think hang on hes doing something wrong
But yeah 2 years if were not even in the champions league. But will the glazers let him stay if were not in the cl next season?
I think they'll get rid if we miss out on Champs League.
Fletch I would say they have to, given that they appointed a wholly uncompetetent exec to oversee our transfers and end up with us paying 27m or whatever it was for a cart horse.
I think SAF left us with a much weaker squad than last seasons crack papering title win suggested.
Every rival has upped their game since last season amd improved their squad and we've been found wanting.
We need to strengthen in January. Who could we bring in that won't be Cup-Tied for the CL.
Clearly Suarez is a brilliant player who isn't Cup-Tied, but we don't have a month of Sundays coming up so he won't be signing. Who else could we go for?
Michu? Ben Arfa? We need to look outside of this league to be honest. Villareal have some good midfielders. Could go back to Madrid for Modric if he isn't playing ahead of Khedira and Illaramendi.

What more was he supposed to do? He left Moyes afacking title winning squad. Moyes is just making excuses. Arsenal have a worse squad than us yet are top. so are spurs.
If Coentrao hasn't played for Madrid, we are surely gonna be in for him. Or Shaw maybe?
Left side needs summat. I hope he sticks with Januzaj
Why are you all worried about Champions League cup tied players?
This squad won't go any further than last 16 anyway. We might not even get out of the group.
There are hundreds of quality players NOT involved with the CL this year that would improve us anyway.
how can winning the PL, the most prestigious championship in world football, be 'papering over the cracks,? Its the ultimate accolade that every footballer/manager/coach/chairman strives for. If you win it, you have cracked it and should be applauded
A title winning squad that won far more last ditch points than a league title win implies. Our two biggest rivals were atrocious by their usual standards. It is not hard to see that the team that won the league last year was very fortunate to do so. We were very much a one man team and struggled through so many games. To suggest that SAF left a team that could compete with £100m of improvements to 3 of its rivals this summer without improving is ludicrous.
Wayne,
Chelsea have won a title every year by virtue of spending astronomical sums of money. Not by sacking managers.
