The fact that people are seriously questioning Steve McClaren abilities is the funniest thing in ages.
Are we talking about the same Reid that made mincemeat of us at the weekend
Comparing Steve McClaren coaching record against Clough is laughable to be fair , but thats not to say it won't in the future.
Sam Rush has consistently said there has been money to spend yet Clough didn't spend it. Clough's own statements seem to back this up.
<Ok>
McClaren left Forest because he was told certain things, set up to work within the constraints he'd been told and then they pulled the rug on him.
As long as he knows what's going on from the off, he's fine, it's when you BS a bloke and then hang him out to dry that he is going to be royally peed off.
For all those banging on about Clough's dignity, just remember McClaren walked away from Forest rather than sue them for the balance of his contract.
Why is it amusing to question Schteves abilities Dru. He may have had successes but has also had some spectacular failures. One signing out of all the money he spent at Forest proved to be effective, Wolfsburg was a total disaster as was his return to Twente. I wont blame him for England though, not even a combination of Brian Clough, Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho could manage that shower of excrement.
It's not amusing at all. I'm certainly not laughing. What IS amusing is 'Brutus' Rush maintaining we are going to hire someone who will propel us into the Premiership and then going for someone like McLaren, who regardless of how he supposedly measures up streets ahead of NC, has not proved he can do that, ever.
DRU, How many of the signing that he brought into Forest worked out, you point at one signing from five 20% success rate IMO is not good, you however may have a different view on this?!? Where are Ishmael Miller, Matt Derbyshire Johnathan Greening et al?
I'm only pointing out the facts - and the fact is that his recent tenures at Forest, Twente and Wolfsburg were all disasterous and this was with ca$h behind him, with no money at Derby I am genuinely fearful
Of course I will stand corrected if were are top by Christmas
Who out of Miller, Derbyshire, Greening and Reid would you have been disgusted if we had signed at the time..?
Who thought Paul Jewell would be a disaster at our club?
It seems some of you are excellent judges in retrospect, clearly a great person to have around years after events.
666, statistics are based on historical data and I am basing judgement on retrospective statistical evidence.
I'm sure you never make any comments in retrospect, pot, kettle, black
The point is merely that we would all have been happy to have seen those players arrive at our club. Derbyshire was proven at this level and above but had been seriously injured, Miller was exceptional in patches for WBA, Greening useful if not spectacular at EPL level and Reid has always been gifted, just often too fat to perform for 90 minutes... he's at least as good as Commons, and nobody complained when we signed him, did they?
And mclaren couldn't get a single performance out of the lot of them. He's terrible.
The hypocrisy is what I find amusing. Derbyshire, Greening and Reid were all decent signings and we would all have been happy to see them in a Derby shirt.
Facts are Clough was responsible for his own downfall and to not see that IMO is naive. Negative tactics, poor selections, nonsensical transfers, bad judgment transfers, no plan B and crazy substitutions.
Openly ripping players apart in public, publicly blaming players for poor performances when played out of position etc etc etc.
I and others had our loyalty questioned cause we dare to question Clough's abilities. Steve McClaren may not have been my first choice but I will give the guy a chance and my support, as I did with Clough until I see otherwise.
To tear him down before he has even set a foot through the door seems unfair but we were expecte3d to contiue to place blind faith in a manager who has made little progress on the pitch over the last 2 years where his excuses for his players were now redundant.
We are all Rams so at least give the guy a chance rather than this blatant negativity that I have been accused of with Clough.
Fair enough 666, the main point I am making is that McClaren did this with money behind him, what is he going to do with the few peanuts that GSE will throw at him? Unless they have amassed a war chest that we don't know about
The only good thing McClaren did in his time at Forest was bring back Andy Reid, regardless of what you think of him he has been outstanding at times, and this season he's easily our best player so far.
We'd happily GIVE you any of the other players he signed that are still here if you are strapped for cash...
My God! 666 is even claiming the Wally signed some good players for Forest. Whatever next. Not only is 666 wilfully blind he is wilfully stupid as well.
When (not if) Wally fails, 666 will claim it is because he is not taking 666's tactical advice.
I fear the worst and I think 666 has a lot to answer for. Rush expected the anger of the fans at losing to Forest would carry his crazy idea through. It's been planned for a while.
