What a patchwork of assumptions, guesswork, flailing about in the dark and prejudiced BS this so-called "article" is!

Was teh stirring comeback from 4-1 down not sufficient to fill column inches today? WTF is this pile of crap doing in the paper?!!

Quite plausible if you don't have the facts.

Remind you of anything 666?

It's a bit like the stuff Mostyn might contribute, but otherwise No.

I'm staggered that made it past the Editorial Team; it's complete and utter speculation completely unsubstantiated by any facts whatsoever!!

If your company sacked you and a load of others on Friday and on Monday had already recruited the replacements might you not think that it was all planned well in advance. I expect you would be certain of it.

...just like they had Richard Keogh suspended on Saturday lunchtime and had his replacement in 24hrs before McClaren you mean?

If you've had the career you purport to, Spart, then you may have come across the term 'contingency plan' before.

If not, look it up. It's right there, just before 'continuing to do nothing, go nowhere, and leave the defence as weak as a kitten'.

All I can see with this article is that it doesn't fit in with your plans, 666.

I was under the impression that Clough was on the way to becoming 'dead man walking' since last March - when I walked into Sam Rush's office and his first question to me was "What is your impression of Nigel Clough?"

He was gauging opinion even then by conducting a straw poll.

What are the actual facts presented by the article, Moj..?

I presume Steve Nicholson can just as easily join a forum such as this to speculate and vent, but is that his actual job to do so? What is he trying to achieve by it? Who does it help? What is the driving force behind it?

That's the whole thing about being 'professional' at something; you're supposed to do what the job entails, not what you feel like doing.

666, getting an emergency loan is totally different from recruiting an entire management team or are you really as stupid as you pretend to be.

I think that Spart, 666 and Moj ought to settle this once and for all.
I suggest a fight; venue TBA and we can have Vidals on standby to care for the injured. Like a feminine version of Florence Nightingale

Not if you have contingencies in place, and all three of them were unattached (or as good as) then why should it have to take weeks..?

Given that there seems to be have been an impasse brewing about getting in a DoF for some months now, it would have been remiss of GSE to not at least consider what course of action they might need to take in order to ensure their plan was adhered to.

It's business, Spart, and in business you hope for the best and plan for the worst.

I trust this clears things up for you; I've made it as simple as I can

This journo obviously doesn't read 666's posts

Strett, I gave up beating up the fat kids when I was at junior school.

So what you are saying is 666 that there was a plan in place, just agreeing with the journalist and every other person with more than one brain cell.

Eddie, I got the same opening question when I spoke to Rush about lack of signings in January.

Eddie: I agree mate. Dead man walking. How a man with that sort of morality has the temerity to swan around using the name of Canada's Legendary Rock three-piece is beyond me. Are there no depths to which people will stoop?

Having a back-up plan is not the same as planning to do something; it seems to me that the ball was firmly in Clough's court and he was either too stubborn to compromise or else he was afraid that he would be rumbled for what he and his fat mates were. I'm not at all surprised to find the disciples of Your Nige are stymied by the very notion of a "Plan B" though, never having had to contend with one in the past five years.

Either way, the result is the right decision coming at the wrong time. Unfortunate for short term PR, but fabulous for the club in the overall scheme of things.

McClaren already stated he was called Saturday night. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Clough was on marked time.

This Board saw an opportunity to jump in after the loss at the City Ground and knew that the huge disappointment in defeat would allow an easier transition.

Anyone who believes that a Manager can be sacked and another reinstated almost immediately without pre-planning, is either propping up their own beliefs or just plain ignorant.

Of course the said transition is made somewhat easier when the new managment team (so thats THREE new signings, not achieved overnight) has in the past had strong ties to the club. Nice and smooth Mr Rush

I really don't see why you're so concerned about this 666, you have what you've been asking for for what seems like an age. Now you want to set about anyone who had a modicum of sympathy for Clough and the way he was treated. Sounds like you are STILL trying to justify your stance to me, although why is anyone guess, unless it just for more attention.

When everyone was wetting their pants that it might be Pulis, it was being reported that an appointment was at an advanced stage so its no doubt that Clough was a dead man walking and Pulis the perfect red herring.

McClaren even with the dogs and England experience would be easier to stomach.................or................I'm reading to many of Tegs posts
