Haha, bloody hell, the difference is MASSIVE in reality, just about all the deadwood gone, lots and lots of youth and a unity that has been missing for two years.
Anyway we are not third, we are joint second
Gem, I'm afraid we'd only be joint 2nd if we had identical stats. We are indeed third on goal difference. Technicality.
Who are the top six anyway?
I preferred the heady heights of the Prem. Nothing against you lot creaming about being in Division 3 - I know that's the situation so we have to make the best of it. I'm hoping we get back to the "Champo" so we can challenge for the title again.
One step at a time butey, now just let go of that blanket.
Tell you what Sunny as Stale lost six of his next ten games and won one, yes one win in ten games shall we revisit this after twenty games?

Haha, bloody hell, the difference is MASSIVE in reality, just about all the deadwood gone,
Spot on Cinci.
This time last year Solbakken had replaced Fletcher with Sig, Sig is now third choice behind two strikers already at the club.
Kites had been replaced by Boukari now replaced with the superior Henry.
Guedioura & Milijas had gone to be replaced by Doumbia now history and replaced by McDonald & Price.
Jody Craddock had all but retired and Berra wanted to leave so we got a man called Margaret now thankfully replaced by Ricketts and the promotion of Batth.
I’ll give credit where credit is due and admit Sako was an adequate replacement for Jarvis.
So yes Jackett’s first job was to replace those players bought with last year’s squandered £12m by promoting from within or by picking up bargains from lower league clubs and he’s done a very good job.
Jackett has done very well to get us back on track, but I suppose he could have just wasted money and failed and then said he had taken over a broken club. Seems like that would have impressed some people even more
Tatter

...................................................................
Can anyone remind me when TC got the boot ?
I’ve just taken a look at the contribution Stale’s signings made during those ten games for another thread...
“And just for the sake of completion...
In the first ten games we did so well in before the injury “crisis” Solbakken’s signings accounted for 23% of our starting line up (25 starts from 110 starting slots) and provided 38% of our goals (5/13).
Exclude Sako, who wasn't injured, and they filled 18% of starting slots (18 starts from 100 starting slots) and contributed 20% of goals (2/10).
So the “deadwood” contributed 77% of our starting line ups in those ten games, Sako 6% and the balance of Solbakken’s signings 17%.
And during those games “deadwood” contributed 62% of our goals, Sako 23% and the rest of Solbakken’s signings managed 15%.
If it hadn’t been for “deadwood” & Sako where would we have been after ten games?”
I don't know how many managers have ever been given over £10m to spend on new players in one transfer window in the Championship. I suspect you could count them on one hand. And of those that did I am certain that the decrease in value over the following 12 months has never been higher than with Solbakken's signings. Connor and Saunders were just as bad as management and maybe even worse but at least they didn't fritter £10m
Surprised you turned it into a Mick Stale argument tats, i never mentioned either, just that the difference was huge and the deadwood had been removed.
I see them as Wolves players, its a shame most others dont still.
I am delighted with how Jackett has gone about his job, blame Mick, TC, Stale and Deano for the mess that preceded.
It no coincidence that we only have Doyle left as a definite starter from Micks tenure and Sako from Stales
King Kenny
No intention to turn it into a Mick v Stale debate Cinci. There isn’t any point in doing that really is there?
It’d be like starting a Bully v Claridge debate, weighing up the pros and cons of Sir Jack and the Bahttis or asking whether people would like to búgger or be buggered.
I simply compared this season with last as per the OP.
Just reading those stat again tats, that actually puts up a very good argument for where the real problems lay doesn't it?
Over the season Stales signings didn't really make much of a contribution at all, your stats would include Pezcko who didn't really play again as well, which would mean that it was ''micks'' signings in fact that effectively took us down again.
I’ve just taken a look at the contribution Stale’s signings made during those ten games for another thread...
think you did
I don't mind personally, interesting convo in my opinion, and as i just said above, it inadvertantly points out where the issue likely was.
Poor signings are indeed poor signings, but if they don't play they cannot really be blamed for what happens on the pitch.
I am just pleased Kenny had the balls to continue the cull, Deano showed glimpses of what needed doing at least.
Hang on a minute tatter. The only comment I've made on this article, is the one in reply to gemini's remark. I haven't mentioned SS, so what on earth are you on about?

Interesting that 2 seasons running we got to 3rd. and then sank like a stone
Those stats are for the first ten games Cinci and I put them together because someone on MolMix claimed everything was going swimmingly under Stale until he hit an injury wall.
I think those stats give some indication of how well Stale’s signings were doing over those ten games.
Take Sako out of the equation and they contributed 2 goals and 18 starts between them.
We went downhill over the season (and this is my opinion only) for the same reason we went downhill in individual games. Solbakken’s tactics and man management.
The longer he coached them (his players as well as the deadwood) the worse we looked as a team and we almost always looked worse in the 2nd half of games than we did in the 1st.
Lack of fitness? Maybe.
Stale not being able to read what was happening in the game and make changes accordingly? Could be.
Players not having a clue what he was asking them to do? I’ll let you decide.
Players thinking at half time that they just couldn’t be bothered to do in the 2nd half what they did in 1st? Seems unlikely.
Surprised you've turned this into an MM v SS debate!
I think there is no doubt that players were unsure as to what was being asked.
Doyle himself said this is one interview, effectively saying that some players do not like/won't accept change.
Fitness would appear to be a possible reason as well, doubt any league has the kick and rush mentality of the champo except maybe the aussie rules football.
As for ''closing out'' games, i think that is a european philosophy, Mourinho is doing it now at chelsea, helps when you have solid personel.
