He gives us a different option and could well go to Rio as the 4th striker, but if he had played instead of Welbeck agst Poland this week i seriously doubt we would have won the match...
Welbeck has to imrove his goal scoring, that should not even be up for debate, but the work rate of the lad, the amount of times he won the ball back for England and helped start new attacks was priceless.............and Lambert does not have that in his locker.
Teddy Sheringham 11 goals in 51 games for England
Peter Beardsley 10 goals in 60 games for England
Danny Welbeck 8 goals in 20 games for England.
Who is gonna be brave enough to say neither Beardsley or Sheringham were vital players for England?
well sheringham was not exactly vital and sheringham was actually a good player, its like saying iniesta is not good because his stats are not great.
I think if we had anyone else other than welbeck on the left wing against poland we would of probably won 4 or 5 nil.
I woudl have cole left back and baines left wing in future.
His workrate is good don't get me wrong, but so is james milners.
Peter Crouch has a great record for england also. theres many variables.
But I would have lambert every day of the week over welbeck, as a CF anyway.
I would lvoe this
Walker cahill jags cole
Gerrard-Wilshere
Townsend Rooney Baines
Lambert
Would love to try that but would never happen
It's criminal how the likes of Lallana are being overlooked, yet United darling Cleverly is always getting picked.
Wellbeck is far more effective for England than Milner
Did Rickie Lambert deserve his call up? Yes of course he did. Did Rickie Lambert take his England chance when it came? Yes he did. Lambert will need to continue his form this season to get selected but if he does he’ll be there on merit.
yet United darling Cleverly is always getting picked.

Yet he didn't play either of the last internationals?
I like how Sheringham's and Beardsley's stats don't count because they were good players, yet Welbeck's do, because you perceive him as poor (which he isn't)
Lambert had a chance to show how good he was, in his first international start, he was completely woeful. He couldn't control anything, he couldn't pass, he got in people's way, he couldn't run with the ball & he just was not a threat on the goal.
Do I think he deserves another chance in a friendly? Yes, I do, perhaps it was a one off, but I know one thing for sure, for the those qualifiers I was far happier seeing Sturridge and Rooney as the strikers than I would have been seeing Lambert's name in there.
Fact of the matter is, he was not good enough in his last international game.

Theres so much wrong with this whole post I do not know where to begin.Lambert was one of our better plaeyrs in that match. And was nowhere near any other england player throughout the match. Dont let your bias ruin this article.
And Sheringhams and beardleys stats do count but they offered a lot more to the team then welbeck...I dont mind welbeck btw. Just that if Welbeck is good enough Lambert is more than good enough
I see Rickie week in week out. He has a brilliant footballing brain, which is something we lack in some of our players. He picks out passes some players dont even think about. If you saw his two assists in the Moldova game, he can read the play excellently. He scores goals and has proven that through all the leagues, and as for his penalties for us he has score 32/32, which again is something we lack, a competent penalty taker. Why Lallana hasn't been called up is beyond me, he plays well week in week out and could offer something different on the wing or just behind the striker. Personally I think he is better than Milner, and Sterling (who manage to get ahead of him) but they both play for big teams, not little old Southampton!
yet United darling Cleverly is always getting picked.
