Injury Update - Newcastle

Just read Walcott, RVP, Walcott, Koscielny, Vermaelen and Ramsey are all fit and ready to start against Newcastle
---------------------------

A bit of good news then

posted on 11/8/11

still look a bit lightweight in midfield although it will be interesting to see if rosicky can bring his pre season form into the prem

Looks like Rosicky's form could be the deciding factor at St. James' then.

Too be honest our midfield is always lightweight, aslong the work-rate is high in our midfield then all is good because I am sure Gervinho and Walcott will be creating chances if not the midfield.

At least some good news today....

I think, if all the injury news is correct and nothing happens between now and then, you could be right.
Any news on Arshavin, think he would start ahead of Walcott if fit.

I would personally chuck Frimpong in.

------------Szczesny
Sagna--Koscielny-Vermaelen-Traore
---------Song---Frimpong-------------
Gervinho-----Ramsey------Arshavin/Rosicky
----------------RvP------------------

Not likely to happen but thats what I would go with...

Dare I ask where you read it?

wearethenorthbank on twitter, he wouldn't tweet something like that if it was BS. 99.9% sure it is true.

Looks like a top ten team to me!!!

I dont know how good this news is, all through pre season we have been incapable of controlling the midfield without wilshere

Says the Liverpool fan...

top ten would be an achievement for your lot. Henderson, Adam, Carroll, Enrique = relegation scrappers...

D'Jeezus you are having a laugh, starting frimpong in a game like this for his debut. He is not ready yet I think. Arshavin is fit, he just had a head collision with another player, nothing serious.

I heard that Arshavin sustained a cut on his eyebrow.

Please tell me that an eyebrow injury isn't gonna rule him out!

Bench of : Miyaichi, Arshavin, Chamakh, Djourou, Fabianski then ? that's a weak bench then

Newcastle are in a lot more trouble than us, another player out the door today!

Perfect to get Frimpong in, alongside Song to control the midfield.

how is that a weak bench? include chamberlain and we have two players that could come on late with pace to change the game, with arshavin you have another dangerous player to come on as a sub, and djourou is very good for 3rd choice cb

I wouldn't underestimate newcastle at their ground, there isn't exactly a good buzz going around the club so we need to make sure we get a good result to improve moral. Now is not the time to be giving debuts to teenagers!

D'J might just have a point about starting with Frimpong and Song. It would definitely stiffen up the centre of the field for us.

There was a Geordie on 5live the other day bemoaning the transfer window for turning Newcastle into a Ligue 2 team.

All's not too rosy up there at the minute either then.

Exactly why we would give a young, Arsenal through and through, enthusiastic player a chance!!

posted on 11/8/11

I see your points but I can see frimpong either getting too excited or crack under pressure, this will make him give away the ball too often and he will lose his composure. Song, Ramsey and Rosicky is the midfield we need to use, it has work-rate, fluidity and experience.

Liverpool a couple of mediocre signings and they think they are all that!

We can't not blood youngsters in fear of their emotions!

I am sure that Wenger is confident in Frimpongs mental state, otherwise he wouldn't have given him so much exposure to the first team squad over the last two pre-seasons.

However, as I said earlier, I doubt Wenger will go with two defensive minded midfielders in Song and Frimpong.
