More important to the team than Hughes right now IMO and I'd be very dissapoined if they sold him for anything less than £4m

Cant see it happening unless the payer wants to go which I doubt he would

Agree with bush, its got to be at least £4mill or tell them where they can go.

But even then, bryson has been awesome and I would rather he stayed and helped us push for promotion.

Unfortunately Celtic can offer him a significantly bigger wage and guaranteed Champions league football. Plus playing for Celtic would increase the chance of him representing Scotland. Why he hasn't received more caps so far is a mystery to me.

Hope he doesn't go as we need a goal threat from midfield. If Hughes and Bryson left our midfield would go from good to ordinary.

They can fack off the cants as they would say in Scotland.

Bryson loves it here and moving to his boyhood club will wait for another time.

I think the existing 'project' (as seems to be the en vogue expression in the football world) is one that any player would enjoy being involved in, and I'm sure Peabo will at least see out the season and make any decisions then... perhaps where we are in the league come January will go some way to determing the decisions of both he and Hughes.

It's probs only papertalk anyway; Scottish player playing well in the Championship is always going to be linked with a move back up North but it's clear he's shining here at the moment, the way we set up benefits his game and he's being noticed in a league that is superior to the SPL in competitive sport... how much info can you actually glean about a player when he's playing against firemen, plumbers and posties every weekend?

Put this one to bed, Sammy!!

"Derby's Scottish midfield ace Craig Bryson is a target for Champions League aces Celtic, who are excited about his £750,000 release fee."

If true this is very unfortunate, very Derby

If that release clause is actually in the contract, steve mc needs to get it removed, pronto.

Well we lost Commons to Celtic. Why not Bryson? After all we are a selling club

posted on 24/10/13

Whether it is just a rumour or not you would hope he would want to stay here at least till the end of the season but like 666 says it could depend on where we are January.

I don't believe the £750k release clause bit. Thats ridiculous. If there is one then whoever agreed to that amount needs a good kick in the knackers.

666, meant to ask ages ago, why do you call him Peabo? I dont think i saw the thread when you came up with it so been trying to work it out. Put me out my misery please

666 expects his Sammy to put it to bed. Dream on

Probably a bit before your time, Pabs

If we paid £450k for him, then it's entirely feasible we put a £750k clause in as it would have represented a good return at the time, however if there IS such a clause remaining after his deal was extended earlier this year, then Uncle Sam needs to get him an improved contract pronto.

Yes just before my time. I was 1 when the second album came out. I know of and listen to loads of music released before i was born but never heard of this fella.

I agree that if it was in there initiallly then ok but as he was valued at more than £1m by most of us if they had left it in or inserted it after his new contract then its criminal.

posted on 24/10/13

Bryson's agent may have insisted on the clause as part of the the deal for agreeing a new contract. There was interest expressed before so it may have been a way of keeping options open.

Don't ask 666 to sing one of his songs though, he gets him confused with aaron neville and linda ronstadt

You know what the problem was, Harps...?

I don't know much, but I know Aaron Neville, and that may be all I need to know.

I can remember Ian Holloway bragging about a low sell on clause for Luke Varney and he could pick him up for peanuts (all he was worth really). However we ended up convincing Portsmouth to pay out some ridiculously overpriced sum for him. Then remarkably enough they did the same to Leeds.

............Bailey/Eustace............
......Coutts...............Hendrick....

To be fair if we could get a younger version of Eustace that is still a good midfield.

£7.5 million for Hughes
£750,000 for Bryson

We could buy Jimmy Bullard for that

Uncle Sammy will sort it, have no fear

Why would he want to drop down to a league that plays a standard of football akin to our League 2?
And don't say 'for European football' as that only caters for a handful of games in the season.
He left that league to pursue a far better standard in the Championship.

posted on 24/10/13

What Celtic don't pay in a transfer fee they will pay in wages. Say goodbye to Bryson and don't trust Sam Rush to sort it.

Sammy will sort it

If the release clause is £750k they wouldn't of given him a new contract when they'd just turned down £1,5M for him.
Again people worrying about something that may not happen.
He's got a very good chance of playing the English prem, why would he choose the 1 team scottish prem.

posted on 25/10/13

Bryson knows he has a very good chance of playing in the prem....with us in the next couple of years!!
