Haven't been following Roma at all this season but by all accounts they have been brilliant, especially in defence. A quick look at Zonal Marking shows Pjanic's propositioning is very much of a central midfielder so could be what we need, I really have no idea, sounds like he's great at connecting midfield possession into attacks which IMO is what we need.

I thought Pjanic was a winger, or am I confusing him with Ljajic? They sound similar

I thought he was an attacking midfielder who would play in the same position as Rooney/kagawa...don't really need another one of them do we?

He is a good player though. But we need a CM!!!

Sounds to me like Moyes knows we're relatively poor and is starting to Pjanic buy.

Seems like he plays CM but has De Rossi basically sitting in front of the defence as well as Strootman next to him which gives Pjanic the freedom to burst forward.

In theory you could replace De Rossi with Carrick and Strootman for Fellaini and Pjanic could do the same job. The only problem however would mean we lose an extra man further forward. But an attacking trio of Rooney, RVP and Kagawa/Januzaj could be a bit tasty while giving us more control in the middle.

Surely the issue of Rooney comes into play, just look at Kagawa. Rooney fills that space

I guess the difference is Pjanic seems to play primarily as a CM moving into attacking spaces whereas Rooney plays as an attacking player occasionally dropping back into midfield areas to pick up the ball.

Foe me this season our big problem has been creating through the middle and the too big a space in between our midfield and attack. While I'm pleased with Rooney's performances so far a problem for me has always been his lack of ability in properly combining midfield to attack like a top ACM does, Rooney's primary role is and always will be to score goals.

Maybe if we add an extra man in the middle it will allow Rooney to concentrate on what he does best and gives us a player who is more capable of moving the ball from midfield into attacking areas while also giving us better control in the middle.

Pretty sure Ljajic is an attacking midfielder. Tosic was the winger. One I feel SAF should have given more oppertunities to.

I thought Tosic was ok but think Ljajic is the better player right now although seems to have a bit of an attitute problem.

Didn't Tosic also come out and claim Ronaldo was leaving us before he actually did which supposedly annoyed Ferguson at the time.

It depends who you play up front, Pjanic tends to play for Roma as an attacking midfielder in a three with a deep forward in front of him. I'd be worried that you would have too many attacking options then.

Personally, I think his colleague at Roma would be a far better signing for you and your setup if you continue with Rooney and RVP as the two up front...

No, I was thinking more of Strootman if you are to play a two man midfield. I know he has only just gone there, I just think he will suit your current style of play better.

If you bought Pjanic, then I would play him with carrick and fellaini behind and sacrifice a front man. Would be great, I just don't think Moyes will do that.

Yeah I heard, their manager had him at Lille so I guess he knows him better than anyone.

Yeah that's kind of what I suggested earlier but with Carrick as the De Rossi holding player, I really think that would suit Carrick more.

Our big problem for me is moving the ball from midfield into attacking areas and by the sounds of it that's what Pjanic is doing brilliantly at the moment as well as pressing high up the pitch. Anderson is our best player at the moment at doing that but I can't see him getting many games for us.

Surely worth buying just for the tabloid puns.
