I was thinking exactly the same last night, he definitely seems like a confidence player. We saw flashes last night of what he's capable of, just needs to get a bit more sure of himself and I think we are going to see a quality player.

he had a couple of digs last night where he engineered a yard for himself quite well
didn't come to nothing because hull's area was packed with blue shirts but definitely an improvement from him

He looks a bit scared actually, reminds of Torres when he moved to Chelsea. A player with 30 million on his shoulders
didnt see any improvement lacks confidence, looked scared, read a story about his family coming over from argentina will that make a difference
I had a sheit stream so couldn't really tell who was who half the time, and I missed a huge chunk of the middle of the game, but he did look like he was more involved. Came centrally quite a bit (I assume he started on the right?). I really hope the penalty thing doesn't set him back though, IMO he really shouldn't have been in our starting 5 for pens given the circumstances

Was also thinking that he should'nt be taking pens but I suppose AVB has to show faith in him. That in itself will boost his confidence. Dare I say start him
against Everton?
He looked like he wanted to cry when his was saved.
No one should ever get stick for stepping up and taking a penalty. He didn't miss the goal that's the main thing.
Agree with most people he looked much improved. The first signs of him settling in a bit more.
With regards to how long players need to settle in and what a difference it can make... Look at Siggy and Holtby, had people saying they were rubbish through most of last season, now they've had time though they both look excellent
When he got hacked down and grabbed the ball made me laugh, I dont think the ref was going to do it until lamela cradled the ball in his arms.
Better performance, but still a shadow of the star who was at Roma.

I think in general the whole team needs time to settle.
We have not seen the best from Ericksen or Paulinho either.

I Thought he stepped on the ball and fell over?
I dont think so? It was when we were on teh counter and he had the ball at the halfway line
was there last night and I felt extremely sorry for him. He was a definite improvement on his previous performances. His movement and his passing were a lot better. He found space a lot but was ignored. JD had 2/3 opportunities to pass but as usual never. Gutted for him when he missed the pen.

At least it did'nt cost us so that at least will make it easier to gett over.Hopefully.
Young boy struggling in a new country. He will adapt and get better.
I really like Lamela will become a great player for us has tons of ability and scope to improve.
Really felt sorry for him last night he looked around to the coaches and raised his arms after the penalty in a way to say he did not want to take it.
That being said he has never been worth 30 million pounds, there is a huge gulf in class in serie a so a player will always look better than they are in some games. Even the most ardent of Lamela fans cannot give any argument as to why we paid that sum.

Surely it has to do with Baldini and his Roma links.
He must have assured Levy that this is the players worth or potential to be worth more?
Benny cool, i'm hearing the spurs fans gave Lamela a fantastic reception in singing his name especially after his free kick? as you were there is this true? it's just that i'm a huge Lamela fan and feel so sorry for the kid at the moment because nothing is going right for him. Within time it will be fine and he will prove to be a fantastic player but you can't help but feel sorry for him.

Surely with a player like Lamela you're paying for how good he'll become rather than how good he is though
Don, he got a great reception. People were chanting when he did something good and if he did make a mistake not many complained. can't question his work ethic last night. I think Jd made critics overlook lamela with his shocker.
Lamela has really worried me. It's strange for a new signing to have no confidence at all.
One good run last night. He was in a few good positions to shoot from, but kept fluffing it or laying it off unsuccessfully.
Ginger, JD has more than a couple of fluffs every game and hes been here for years!
Lamela is a 21 year old stranger in a strange land, he'll settle now his family are here i reckon.
He is low on confidence, but obviously has bundles of talent, he will develop into a top player for Spurs given time.
I remember when Bale had a crisis of confidence and could not win a game with Spurs, and we all know what happened there.
