Hull v Norwich there was one, can't recall any others.

I think there was an incident in the Chelsea Hull game were it was used, I think McGregor clawed the ball back and Chelsea thought it was in, the 4th official showed Mourinho on his watch that it wasn't a goal, replays backed it up

TBF there generally aren't that many goal line queries throughout a season. More beneficial would be officials having access to replays to judge fouls/dives but that's another argument.

There have been a few incidents. But because of the tech there has been no incident. So far they've all been nos. As far as I can recall there's not been a ball that just crossed the line.

All that money, and it was only ever going to affect one or two decisions a season.

It's more money that the game will get from the fans, that will leave the game and go into someone's pocket.

It's needed far more in Germany than here

Hopefully, some will be going into my pocket. I'm hoping to do the new Hawkeye website in the new year.

Those one or two decisions can decide who gets in the top 4 and the CL and get the chance to pocket 55 million euros like Bayern did last year.

PS no fans of any PL team have ever got any cash back

I don't really agree with those statements.

I guess technically you can claim that, but I don't think you can pin a season's success on one moment.

The point about money is that if it costs the game more, it'll just result in fans being charged more. It won't be taken out of club's profits or player's salaries, that's for sure.

rather we didnt have the tech at all

I hope the tech stops with goal line technology. I don't want rid of all controversy and talking points. It's part of what makes the game for me.

Winston, your argument is valid, but the same reasons of costs were used when they introduced the 4th official. It was argued that we had done perfectly well with only three for decades.

How much they do assist the ref, is of course debatable, but over a season, the benefit outweighs the cost, cos so many refs are blind !

I really don't see what wrong decisions bring to football. As long as it doesn't inhibit the game, then the more tech the better in my opinion.

It's an obvious fact that bad offside decisions cost teams goals, points (and money!) many, many more times than any missed over-the-line call.

If technology is to be used on the basis that these goal-line decisions result in huge financial losses (in the case of relegation/promotion battles or a place in Europe) then surely it's the offside calls that should be 'reviewed' much more diligently than the very rare over-the line-or-not incident?

Personally, I'm not a fan of anything that differentiates the game played at the top level to the one played in Sunday leagues.

shouldnt need goal line technology in european games if those muppets that stand behind the goals were able to make a decision.

what exactly are they there for....

I'm only in favour of using technology for retrospective bans.

The controversial decisions and issues all add to football. If the refs got everything right all the time, forums will be dull

haha - not sure that's fair!

Personally I don't think the benefits do outweigh the cost, but hey ho...

agreed. offsides would be very easy to check using tech and there are many more offside queries over the course of a season compared to goal line incidents
