I think we've been more or less at the same level for most of Southgate's time. A lucky draw at the World Cup made it look like we were going forwards.

I'm not so sure. I know it was a favourable draw but you still have to beat those teams. Sweden, Colombia etc are all sides we could have lost to previously. There is definitely a change in mentality anyway.

We lost to Iceland in the previous tournament. Always lost on penalties. I'd definitely say there is a change in mentality but it's our quality now holding us back.
I don't necessarily disagree with you actually I just think there is a positive shift. The country are behind them again so something going right. Just think we are miles behind the best.
