The biggest issue isn’t the individual performances. They have all done about as well as you could imagine in the system.
The issue is we are playing wingbacks with two players who aren’t especially suited to that position. 3CBs and 2 facking DMs. Literally 3 attacking players on the pitch, more negative than Pulis.
Southgate should have gone such a long time ago he is going to waste such a talent pool.

The problem is dreadful movement off the ball in midfield.
Watched Italy against the Netherlands yesterday and they tore us apart with movement in midfield.

It isn’t really. You should expect two midfielders who sit deep week in/week out to run about the shop. The two fullbacks aren’t exactly lightening quick to help with movement. Thus you are relying on three players to do all the attaching and movement. Very obviously dumb.

We are not talking about whether the fullbacks are slow or quick. We are talking about the midfielders taking positions in the half spaces to have numerical advantages in the fullback area which means the fullback has a choice to make whether to commit or not.
We do the same thing at liverpool to create space for our fullbacks to cross. Hendo and Gini taking those positions in the area between the fullback and centre back.
I gave you an example how Italy did it.

when we pinned Denmark back to defending with 10 men behind the ball we had 7 players on the half way line infront of the danish players, kane on the outside of the box and sancho sterling little deeper out wide. embarrassing. Whenever we got into the box Kane was on his own in it despite Sterling taking 15 seconds to dribble into it after 2 minutes passing side to side.
