No Scousers answered my question. Why didn’t Jurgen Klopp, one of the best managers in world football, start Jordon Henderson, club captain, against relegation fodder two weeks ago?

But now two weeks later Henderson is now ready to start against one of the best midfields in Europe?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because one day your not fit to play, and a couple of weeks later, you are.
I mean, seriously, what type of fooking stupid question is that. 😅

Coming back from a groin injury as serious as Henderson’s? Different story to your standard two week injury lay off.

Henderson is the best English midfielder. The others are average. The only problem he has is the manager who doesn't play to his strength which is high energy gane and closing down the spaces.

Klopp managing this England team and Hendo would be one of the first players named in the team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I bet you’re sat there in your Liverpool kit typing that rubbish
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I always want our players to do well for their national teams to be honest whether it is Egypt or Brazil.

Who’s saying he’s starting, apart from yourself? I’ve answered this several times...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Inbefore don’t think he should start. Agreed with both of you. That Robbing Hoody pr!ck and Jlou though think otherwise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could be wrong but I think they’re arguing because people are saying he shouldn’t even be in the squad.

Fair enough. To be honest I’d have him at CB over Mings. He defended well against us at Anfield.

There aren't many players from our team who will play for England. I have always supported England when we had Gerrard, Owen, Heskey in the team.

It is, but. Henderson had been in full training a week before the Palace game. He's had another 2 weeks since. At some point you become fit enough to play. Which he was for 45 mins today. I have no issue with you or anyone else thinking he shouldn't be in the squad based on the football he has missed the last 5 months.
The argument around not being fit 3 for a game 3 weeks ago and suddenly being fit now is really weird though.

I just feel like if Henderson started against Croatia, it would be his first competitive match in midfield since Dec 2020 correct? Against that stacked Croat midfield? With no competitive match fitness? Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Henderson still yet to score a goal for England, even Jack Wilshere managed to do this a few times.

Which is fair enough. I dont think he will start but every chance he gets minutes off the bench over the first two games and is 100% up to speed by the final group game.
As I said, the lack of depth in the midfield probably makes Southgates decision around this easier. Although, surely JWP has to be TAA replacement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can’t argue against that. Agreed with JWP being TAA replacement. Was MOTM today and brings that deadly delivery from set pieces that Trent brought to the squad initially.

In what kind of scenarios do you see Southgate using him in those two games?
