Yeah but revolutionary tactics are overrated, they aren’t common especially among coaches at lower teams. Lampard has never been able to get a team organised defensively, but that is something he appears to have done - so I get why there would be some praise for that, it’s valuable for teams battling relegation.

I think Maddison deserves to go, but IMO it's too late to take him. He should have played in one of the recent games but wasn't picked. That was the mistake Southgate made and I think it's too risky to game a ayer who hasn't played in any games for England recently.

You're probably right there. And Southgate clearly doesn't like him for whatever reason (I have the feeling it's not all to do with football) so wouldn't put his trust in him when it comes down to it anyway
