Wolfie, your error is living in the USA, it is far worse that you don't go to more games than it is the many posters on this board who do actually live within reach of Molineux but make little effort to go.
United drop 2 more points to Championship quality opposition. Rooney deserved a straight red. UH fishing on United's board as I type.
Cinci - I'm not within easy reach of the Mol. That's why I don't post judgements on the players. Also why I pay little heed to others that aren't in a position to judge.
Easier reach than someone living 4000 miles away i would say
So you must be like me, you come here to pick up information on Wolves, but its a bítch because we cannot actually listen to those opinions as we were not actually there.
I cannot even have an opinion despite watching many of the games, such is life
I absorb the information gleaned on here. Reminisce about the decades I traversed the country watching games, weep at the amount spent on season tickets etc., feel better remembering it gave me magic memories with my sons, ignore tripe from Florida, and give an overall opinion - especially when I see mistakes being made. Overall I'm positive. I'll never be a "Wolfie"
To think, you and Wolfie have likely shared the same urinals
You're right Butey, you'll never be a wolfie. There's only one, whereas you change your "handle"every 5 minutes to hide silly the comments you make.
Dont tell him, but he got Sack and Plummet back to front
Working offshore makes it very difficult to get to matches, I have managed just 4 home games so far this season. However working offshore does mean that I always have internet access so that I can listen to the games on Player.
If I have attended a live game I don't feel the urge to rush home and treat everyone on here to my views on the game any more than I do having listened to a game on t'internet.
I love going to matches at the Mol, always have and always will. I love the atmosphere, the south bank roar, the daft comments from the numpties around me, the impromtu hugging of the total stranger next me and the warm feeling of bonhomie when walking back to the car after a win.
I leave the player assessments to those on here are perhaps a little more insightful than me and understand the nuances of the game better than I do.
One thing has always made me smile though. How the héll can anyone in the South bank say for sure that "Siggy should have scored" or "Doyle missed a sitter" when the action is in a crowded goalmouth at the other end of the park? They must have better friggin' eyesight than me too!
Being a tight-wad makes it very difficult for me to get to matches. Sure, I can get in for free, but we are talking £3.90 for a daysaver and £4 for the tram.
This weekend has raised so many questions to ponder gem
some are clearer than others dances
siggy's miss v county and doyle's miss v brentford were both quite clear to see from wherever you'd have been sat at the ground. a trip on the edge of the box at full speed, less easy to see, just as off-sides are hard to judge unless they are 10 yards clear or yr sat in line with the action.
and in some instances even being at the game and actually on the pitch doesn't allow you to see everything as the ref proved today when he watched rooney kick a Cardiff player from behind, 20 yards away from the ball, but somehow mistook it for a yellow card offence

Really DJ !!!!!!! Maybe next time I post an opinion about players, the manager, or the game in general, you'll remember that comment
The point being wolfie that it is not a crime to not attend a game but it is a hanging offence to pretend to be an expert about something you haven't seen. Its not the not going its the not knowing. Get yourself out of that knot
whatever people think of the argument, they have to admit you phrased it really nicely DJ

gissa clue at least
In short, Dolly Perton's opinion is more valid than everybody's because he goes to more games
But yet Pertons view is considered trash, i just cannot make sense of any of this anymore
it is simple cinci
there is making comments about players and performances when one hasn't actually seen them - which is bad
then there is making comments about players and performances when one HAS seen them. which is fine but doesn't make those comments right.
I know you watch the games later in the week usually so am happy to discuss what you think at that point. we may disagree on things then but at least I know yr talking about something you have actually seen so should be giving yr opinion formed from personal knowledge.
So what we need to avoid, above all else in the known universe, is Sandwell town centre. Got it
Its a little clearer now.
Is it OK to criticise players after you have built up years of knowledge on them as well, or weeks of knowledge in some cases?
Or do they get a clean slate each week?
I have years of knowledge of O'Hara and could class him as a very good player if I hadn't seen him much in the last year. Most people were impressed with Sigurdarson last year but are less impressed every time they see him this season. Ikeme was a decent keeper last season that has now turned into an excellent keeper.
So I don't think former opinions apply currently, they only apply in the past

What is this thread about ? It jumps about all over the place......
But surely they give you a base to work from?
If you don't rate a player, you don't rate a player and that is based on his body of work since you have seen him play.
cinci,
it is ok to comment having watched loads of games and then formed an opinion yes.
but as DJ points out, that only goes so far and knowledge must be regularly refreshed otherwise you might think andy keogh was a fantastic support striker and that roger johnson should play for england.
finally, even after watching them lots of times, building up yr evidence and making a considered comment, if you suggest siggy is being unfairly criticised for poor performances and not improving on last season despite being in a weakened league, or that sako doesn't add to wolves current side then yr talking out of yr harris.
Well as a flying winger/wing back of a pretty high standard myself, does this entitle me to question the ability of players in a similar position?
More so than an armchair critic?
And I will not utter that name you mentioned as I fear ulf will believe I have a weird fettish.
