Everyone's entitled to an opinion and anyone else is entitled to disagree with it but these people are poison and their lies can cost people their jobs.
Neil Ashton is a massivec0ck. But, AVB does have questions to answer and instead all he does is cry about the treatment the press give him.
There is a difference about having questions to answer and then turning those answers into a totally different meaning though Grated.
AVB did not call his players as Ashton stated and in calling his players try to shift responsibility. That was a definite dig at his integrity. He said WE that's not shifting responsibility its sharing it exactly were it belongs as the players for Spurs after the first 20 minutes were appalling and so was AVB's lack of tactical nouse.
I completely agree lee, Ashton is a rat of the most disease riddled order, but I don't think AVB is doing himself any favours by going on the ultra-defensive every time a camera's put in his face.
The media were always misquoting Mancini but at least he could answer back by winning trophies. AVB can't do that but he might wonder why Moyes is yet to receive any criticism despite inheriting a title winning squad that cost about £300m.
Think it's because everyone is agreed United are 'in transition'...
We've hardly had any grief off the media yet this season, what dastardly scheme are they hatching?
Think Pel handles the media really well, not worth winding someone up if you never get a reaction.
As much as I enjoy Thfc fans suffering and I do - AVB is one if those coaches you can't help but like.
I wouldn't be too sure of Hodgson at Liverpool, he did a dreadful job and the rhetoric at the time was "Liverpool need to give him time"- in fact people revise his tenure there very much.
Pellegrini is indeed great with the media, I think had Mancini benched Hart so much the way Pellegrini is then it could have been much bigger to the media.
The more and I see these pathetic stories by these lazy jurno's then the more i understand why SAF (at the time i thought he was being stupid) was right in banning them and refused to speak to them
In terms of the journalist, I think it is about furthering their own careers. Face it, 90% of the stuff these guys write is not actually actively reported, but mere Press releases from the major news agencies such as Reuters which they have to cut-down and shorten to suit a newspaper.
Therefore they usually end up with the same stories and to distinguish themselves they either make stuff up such as "an Spurs source" or they actively try to annoy managers.
Journalism is not as simple as going down to football clubs to find out stories, there are so many clubs, so many people and time is precious- most of these guys are nothing more than editors of PR and honestly I think that they become so bored that they'd do anything to get their "exclusive". Not that AVB is helping matter, he's playing right into their hands as it means they can follow-up this story tomorrow, and the next day, and so on...
AVB should either give press interviews through a car window or open a club called 'Escribos'.
The treatment of mancini was among the worst I have seen for a foreign manager. You forgot Rafa benitez Leepen.
Every single decision mancini made was criticised from dropping Shay Given in favour of the inexperienced Hart, to benching micah in favour of Zabaletta or playing yaya as an advanced player instead of an anchor man.
it was quite embarrassing seeing every man, woman and dog up and down the country pretend they knew much more than the man who trained his players everyday.
Not only is the guy a decent coach but was a very good player at the highest end of the professional circuit but got absolutely no respect from people who know nothing about the game.
The WOB amongst their own fans has been far harsher than the media on Wenger.
AVB never got a decent crack at the Chelsea job, and is getting a rough ride now. The "old school" of Redknapp, Allardyce, Sugar, don't like the young man coming through. Rodgers seems to have emerged unscathed from Liverpool's first ever loss to Hull..
The England Manager - whoever it is at the time - deserves the award for most hard done by. A collection of overpaid average players and a neglected national side is their responsibity.. until major changes are made the national job is an impossible one.
To be fair, "journalists" at the Daily Mail can never be accused of twisting words to make a story. They just do not have a basic grasp of the English language to begin with. Even the Stannah Chairlift adverts make more of a compelling argument than they can.
I like AVB, I think he has good ideas (prior to the City game). I'm not sure that the multimillionaire "pros" sees him to be THE air of authority though. Age shouldn't be a factor: what he achieved before coming to these shores should.
It is true what one poster had said on this thread though: how is it possible that one person can lose their livelihood through another professional's lies and incompetency?
I do hope that one day, all those that were affected, shall take a class action to these parasites whom hide behind the usually respectable career called journalism.
It's a bit biting the hand that feeds for me at the same time though. There are some very very good football journalists out there that get castigated with the same brush due to the ineptitude of a few.
melton,
Whilst I agree that there are good sports journalists out there, the inept outnumber the competent. Football news brings in the most column inches, and "freelance journalists" need to make a living one way or another: truthful or not, spin doctored or not. The media is a very small and incestuous world. News items will go through the spin cycle, and regurgitated several times daily. I believe that there was an occurrence where a journalist picked up on an incorrect story from SSN, and printed it as an exclusive.

Boris. You should know the drill by now. The cycle is:
Build them up, knock them down, pound of flesh.
El Pel is obviously in the first phase of this cycle.
If the press faced the fans and had to explain their stories I may have some modicum of respect for them but there is no chance of that.
They hide away criticising people when their own conduct has shown to be disgraceful at times.
Why should journalists be immune from public scrutiny, Ashton should be forced to sit in a room of football fans and let's see how he comes out of it.
