Gibbs really does not have any defensive awarenss but relys on his pace to get him out of trouble,i also would have taken Arteta off as he is so low and does the same job as Flamini but isn't as good at it
Gibbs did ok in the game. One incident where a player was stopped and started to make the space and no one else helped him. Someone should have been coming in to help there.
He couldn't get close. Rosicky should've been on the outside marking Coleman. If Gibbs got tight, Coleman would've got the pass and squared it to Lukaku or someone.

Gibbs did what he had to do in the situation. Rosicky needed to come across quicker to take over so Gibbs could switch to the runner. As it was Gibbs needed to cover both players
Injury setbacks aside, this is why Gibbs is so far down the England left back pecking order and will likely find himself behind Luke Shaw for the rest of his career; because he lacks real defensive acumen. Makes it far too easy for wide men to get at him and doesn't do nearly enough to take away their strengths, instead relying on his athleticism to aid him in times of need. This is a trait too many English footballers are allowed to get away with.

You made two good points mate. Firstly Gibbs isnt clever enough in these kind of situation. Goal could have prevented by him and get closer to Deufeleu (what a name). Secondly you are right. This game needed someone like Flamini instead of Arteta who is too slow and easily overrun when the ball was played quickly through our midfield.
so our players are shiite again after two dropped points?
