ginger, exactly and Lamela has barely had 2 games on a spin, it's ridiculous. How can the guy show his worth if he gets dropped everytime he starts a game. The Lamela I saw at Roma would frighten the life out of prem defenders and I couldn't give a f uck if people say "it was Serie A" the guy is our most talented player and deserves a proper chance.
You lot need to learn the difference between formations and tactics
AVB formation is the same used by all the top teams but his tactics weren't.
Sandro & Dembele for AVB was two DMs
Sandro & Dembele for me would be 1 DM and 1 playmaker/box to box
Sherriff is normally a neutral on here and knowledgeable. Would you agree with me about Lamela mate and can see why I been harping on about him for ages on here? I know you rate him a lot like I do
The team has to have a balance. AVB went way too negative. Sherwood (its early days) but looks like he might go too attacking and get caught out. Advocating Ade, Soldado, Lamela and Eriksen in the same formation, especially when our defence is poor at the moment is ridiculous.
Heng... People will tell you a 4141 is different from a 4231 but regardless
My set up is totally different from yours... Your formation has no width and an abundance of players who can't really do much with the ball.
Mine is full of pace, skill, vision and attacking endeavor

Hengy, but the top teams don't play with 2 or 3 defensive midfielder like avb used to. City don't, Liverpool don't and neither do Chelsea. So what team does mate? I know the difference between tactics and formation. The 3 defensive midfield formation was s hit and negative regardless of tactics.

Just because AVB went for one formation doesn't mean it should be automatically dismissed. 451 works in the right place, 442 works in others. I just want a manager flexible enough to look at the opposition, where we're playing, and the players he has available before picking a formation and tactics
Look Dembele isn't a DM, AVB played him as a DM
In MY formation he's a box to box ( which is the same way he's playing now for Tim )

Madrid
Alonso modric
Arsenal
Flamini wilshere / arteta ramsey

we cant have too many 'defensive midfielders" in a side if we want to score goals.
I think either Capoue or Ciriches would be an alternative to Danny Rose ATM.

So the midfield could be:
Lamela, Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele/Townsend
Question.Would TS have set us up any differently today if we'd had no injuries?

I'm a fan of Lamela, but in a 4-3-3. Roma played a very attacking formation with a narrow 3 upfront and wingbacks prov idig width. It was often borderline suicidal but they were the most exciting team in Serie A.
I'm not sure Lamela can play his best with Sherwood's formation. And yes, Serie A football is very different from here. You can only hope Lamela is young enough to make the transition.

That's the big question. I can see why he went with what has worked in recent games. Hopefully though he can mix it up with different tactics and players when people are fit. After all that's what we expected AVB to be able to do with the squad available to him.
