Can't sign a pre-contract agreement with another domestic club until 1 month before contract expiry.

posted on 7/1/14

I was under the assumption that with six months or less remaining on an existing contract for players aged 23 or older, they are free to negotiate with other clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement, indicating their ability to move to their intended club on a Bosman transfer once the next transfer window opens

It was suggested on Radio Nottingham that it would be around March before he could sign a pre-contract with us. As you know Wilson did with Celtic in January a few years back but that was considered a foreign transfer.

Bruce is suggesting we either stump up around £600k or risk losing him. He has seemingly been to the press a few times to make us move.

If Billy's right though and the recall clause Bruce refers to is for an emergency situation with injuries. In the case surely if Dull trigger it, then because of Bruce's gobbing off, it's going to be REALLY obvious that this wasn't the case. I wonder if there is some legal ramifications if that does happen.

When it comes down to it though, if Jack wants to stay and doesn't fancy a move to an egg chasing region club with no fans, then I can't see they can make him. The best they could do is to recall him for the remainder of his contract just to spite us, but will lose out on our contribution to wages.

It's a mess but I think it's Dull and Bruce trying to pull a fast one. They want slapping

This is the rule for OoC transfers coming/going to a different nation. Its different for same nation out of contract players. Certainly in England. I'm pretty sure he would have to wait until 1 month before his contract expires before he can legally talk to another club without Hull's permission.

You learn something new everyday!
Regardless, all Hobbs has to do is refuse a transfer anywhere else from Hull and call their bluff.

Or we just buy him in Jan

We just happily bend over let Bruce shaft us?

We might have to if we don't want to lose him. Being proud and not bidding and then losing him would be suicide.

By the way, I think some of you have been learning football rules from champ manager.

Possibly eventually IF Jack Hobbs doesn't give a definitive indication he would turn the chance to join Wigan, Bin Robbers and anyone else who is linked

I think for his sake primarily and also ours he would want it sorting ASAP. Don't want it hanging over the second half of the season and potentially unsettling one of our most influential players.
I would put the £600k in Dull's begging bowl and remember this episode next time they want anything off Forest.

Anyone would think its small change. It would be 600k plus an increase in wages. They stated on EMT just that he wants to stay, we just need him to know what to keep him then play hard ball with the bar stewards

Are you lot that clueless as to what its all about here???

He's on loan from Hull. Right...do you follow me so far???....Hull are paying at least half of his wages. Still with me??? Hull want a decision on his future as he IS their player. If Forest want to buy him and PAY his full wages they can. FFP is here....Forest cant do anymore....but they can gamble..or Hobbs can take a massive wage cut and show his true love for Forest so you can sign him now. Trust this helps.

How much is earning Backo?

caniggia....Hobbs contract got a promotion increase with Hull. Hes on Prem wages. Forest are not paying all that at the minute. If they match it and pay the fee he's yours.

posted on 7/1/14

Yeah but what do you reckon he's on roughly? Obviously it's more than we would normally pay so Hull know they are in a strong position because he won't want to drop his pay. I think we should buy him now if we can and then offer him the wages we can afford. If he doesn't want to drop his wages but does want to stay on loan with us then I'm not sure what Hull can do apart from stick him in the Reserves and lose any contribution Forest make to his wages. Other option is he goes to Wigan who can afford the wages but hopefully he'll see we are a better option even if we don't have as much cash (parachute payments anyway).

If Wigan want him then I think Forest have a problem IF Hobbs refuses to take a pay cut. Hobbs holds the key to it all as he dictates how much he wants to earn.,,,Agents will be trying to get him the best deal. You can get close to a player as fans...he can say he wants to stay...but we all know money talks.

I'd be interested to know the difference between what Wigan (if they are interested) are prepared to offer and what Forest can. He knows he's first choice CB with a team that is likely to challenge for top 6 in the Championship. Wigan is a risk, even with the new boss doing well. He's going to be well paid either way so he may take other things into account. But then again, if someone offered to double my wages for a job I didn't really like, I'd still take it!

Depends what the wage gap is. If we're offering him £10k aweek less than he can get elsewhere, then he'll go elsewhere. Sod loyalty, I'd happily screw over my current employer for a 40-50% pay rise!

It's good when Derby fans and pass on their lack of detailed knowledge. Hobbs was signed as for a year loan and to be going into two year contract afterwards. Hull's right of recall is an injury crisis which is pretty standard. Hull are going to the press suggesting they may recall to sell, and they have interest from Wigan and possibly other parties. Latest being we pay 600k to sign him.

It's obvious what they are trying on, and if they recall as threatened surely that's going back on agreement. I mean they've said what they might do to the press. Just trying to shaft Forest because Jack had being doing well and they didn't value him enough in summer to get something then. Add into the situation that Jack apparently wants to stay.

Let's not forget, Hobbs has already, in principle, agreed a 2 year contract with forest.
