defoe is a spurs legend

cant believe people dispute this tbh

-------

not sure if serious?

he may well be, but its certainly not 100% indisputable as you are suggesting.

for me there have only been two spurs legends I have seen play in the 18 years I have been watching spurs. Ginola, and King

100% serious

Long good servant, great goal ratio, always spoke highly of the club, all time European goal scorer

all time European goal scorer is a decent point though. even if most were against absolute crud in the Europa league group stages and playoffs. still, a goal is a goal

vdv? vdv was a class player but if we are talking about STYLE then ginola had more style in the toe nail of the baby toe on his left foot.

My take on legend status is whether people will still be talking in glowing terms about them years after they finished.

With that in mind you'd have to include Ginola and probably VDV

Klinsmann?

---------

thing is that klinsmann was playing for spurs right at the very start when I was a young kid... so I cant remember much about his first spell with us - however I remember him better in his second spell - scoring 4 down at Wimbledon in a 6-2 to ensure that we stayed up !

as for ginola... i grew up watching him and maybe thats why in my eyes his style opitomised everything good about spurs, and thats why i see him as a legend. the way he was, is spurs.

vdv, class player no doubt... but i didn't have the same affection for him as an adult watching on.

If you're still talking about Finnan in glowing terms in 20 years time the he's either a legend or you have an unrequited crush!

I think that if you have a player who is your fifth top scorer of all time, he's a legend. Plus he's a fan's favourite. Maybe not as prolific as we would like, but he's been an incredible servant for us.

He's a yeeeedo and for me a legend. Loves us and I love him. <man crush>

Avb......yup yup......

But then GB11 told us he loved us everytime he scored.....but now he's gone......

He's a legend in my eyes as I'm still TOTALLY gutted he'd gone......

My own personal view:

King = Legend
Ginola = Idol/hero
Vdv and Defoe = fan favourite
Bale and modric =

Left after the club had tried its best to sell any world class player we had, gave his all. Then get offered more money than anyone else to play in the world, and brought us in a world record transfer fee.

I dont love the bloke, but he is hardly a

I think Defoe fits in the era of Ledley King, and Robbie Keane. I would certainly rather have him on the pitch that Keane. He will not be the "legend" that King is.
But he will be remembered here at WHL.
Good luck to him, I say.
