Great film. Good example of why I say watching a game on TV doesn't give as good a perspective as watching live. Looks like in those days not only could you not spot players making a run off the ball, you often couldn't see the ball either

wolfgang,

what a pity they couldn't find the original post match forum comments from the preston sports officiandos, which covered all of the goals at every game: or the 'in t'net' as it was known in the local dialect.

i am sure that after the match, the well known wolves superfan Mr R M Chair, would have told us all very knowingly that there were three players on the bench who should all have come on, if only substitutions had been invented. also, the money spent on that new fangled stand with a roof on it was a complete waste and that open terraces was perfectly good enough for those riff-raff who actually had the ill manners to go to the match in person, shouting and waving their flat caps, instead of sitting at home and waiting for their manservant to give them the report on the final score several hours later - at which point they would be able to tell all those oiks at the game who played well, what formation the manager should have chosen, and why a 5'7" striker was perfectly good enough to play as a target man so long as he didn't mind having his skull caved in by half a ton of wet leather.

GB
There are some on 'ere who could give a detailed critique of Wolves formations, tactics, and managerial successes and failures 1877 to 1914 based only on those few seconds of film.
