Enjoyed that, GB. Excellent read.
Did they have capital letters in the 1950's?
Trust you to want to start an argument, Pundit.
Enjoyed a thread about Wolves, gb. We were a huge club and still a big club with tremendous potential which does make us a realistic proposition for a take over.
I look forward to being an ex-pat fan of a Premiership club watching matches on tv and informing you who go to matches of all of the mistakes that you are making.

Will also add that we are eleventh in average home attendances between the war and 2008, when these figures were compiled:

Excellent article gb.
On the subject of attendance, I was at Molineux for the Orient game where we had the biggest attendance I have seen there since we were in the prem - 28,600 or thereabouts. On Saturday for the equally important Preston game we had 'only' 20,400 but from my position in the Steve Bull it was obvious where most of the empty seats were - the Billy Quiet. I suspect the reason for this was largely down to old folks not wanting to sit in the cold again.
The preston fans were in fine voice and competed well with the south bank, Lee Evans's goal shut them them up though

Most threads and comments look as though they are all by a young schoolboy from his bedroom.
As far as away followings go then only Leeds compete with us outside the Premier League and we average more than many in the top flight.
And with regard to other selling points of our club lets not forget we have a Premier League quality academy facility and are competing with Premier clubs in the U21 league, which must augur well for the future.
Despite the poor press we get at times, Wolves have fantastic support, and considering the fortunes of the club not only for the last two seasons but also for most of the last 30 years its incredible how well the fans have stuck with the club.
I have no doubt that if we could get re-established in the Premier League and complete the development of the stadium then we can get the crowds to support a team at that upper end of that division.
If I rated articles this one would be 5* gb.
I thought the turnout for the Preston game was a bit disapointing as well to be honest, had they not brought 3,500, it would have been one of our lowest crowds for one of our most important games.
Still, if we have a good run in Im sure we'll average over 20,000 for the season which is oustanding support for league one and far higher than many predicted.
Dances - from my vantage point (Stan Cullis) Id say the Steve Bull upper was just as sparsely occupied as the BQ to be honest.

And hoo bloody ray for that.
It really bugs me the criticism that Wolves fans get, don't the critics ever go anywhere else.
It's said we're hooligans, well I haven't seen that from Wolves fans for years now but I have at Blues, West Ham, Bristol, Burnley etc. .............................
It's said we're fickle .... 28,000 for a 3rd division game, following a club that's only been in the top flight for 4 out of the last 28 seasons !!!!!
All the Wolves fans I know are great supporters, good humoured non violent , non fickle who I always feel proud to be associated with.
Must be one of the best supported clubs in the midlands.
Didn't I see that WBA had only 12,700 for their last home match? No wonder Palace had it easy.

Interesting comment that oldgoldilox and I take it onboard. It's hard to tell how well populated a stand is when you are in it but I thought the SB upper tier was pretty full apart from the covered seats at the end.

Very poor, even by your low standards, Bute. You omit to mention that that was a cup game, and also that the 12,700 we got was more than three times the 4,226 that massive club Wolves got for their home cup game.
I don't think that Wolves' fans get particularly bad press, especially for the large numbers that we get both home and for the away following.
The most common negative theme that I see both on tv and from speaking to other fans (mainly Prem fans) is regarding the atmosphere at Molineux. It often seems nervy and there is rarely (certainly before this season) "a wall of noise". We even give one of our stands a disparaging nickname ffs.
Molineux should be a "fortress" but visiting teams seem to know that as soon as they silence the early optimism of the home fans, they are in with half a chance of getting something from the game.
I've read quite a few articles over recent years, where Wolves seem frightened to play at home and the away teams quite relish a visit to Molineux.
High attendances are great but the positive noise for Wolves and creating a hostile atmosphere for the visiting team doesn't just depend on a high attendance.
Cyp I can assure that 'the wall of noise' was alive and well at the Orient game. The atmosphere was fantastic and I even saw a couple of old geezers in the BQ clap their hands (it was a cold day though)
Gem, I certainly take your point. I'm mainly talking prior to this season as the games that I get to watch often don't have any sound so it's difficult to know what the support is like.
You are right about last season mate, nervy it most certainly was at the home games I attended. I think the players really were nervous about playing at home last season, there was so much bad feeling throughout the club. I think those days are behind us now and everyone, players and fans alike are in a much happier place. I find it astounding that we are getting the attendances that we are but it can only be a good thing.
The reason the crowd were quiet last season is quite simple. The football we played under Solbakken was the most boring and uninspiring since the Hoddle days. No set of supporters would have been thrilled watching that.
This season I think the support has been excellent. 3,500 Preston fans there on Saturday but they were hardly heard.
Cyp, Wolves fans may not necessarily get bad press but they still have a reputation.
My nephew is a Spurs season ticket holder and travels to all their away games.
