Nice thread, RKW...may I add some information for viewers from the United States?

BBC America has lost the TV rights to air the tournament. The rights were sold to a PPV sports company called "Premium Sports" who want to charge $19.99 a match to watch it. In addition, it costs $120 for the entire package.

This is ridiculous, so it would be best to invest in a UK VPN to watch BBC online when they air the matches live or later through the iPlayer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
overplay VPN is $4.95 a month and they have VPN's in more than 70 different countries. When im out of the country i use them and highly recommend the service

Alright Pool

Aren't Premier Sports the company who have rights to show Conference Premier matches? They also show a lot of baseball and basketball I take it?

Think Setanta used to show a lot of sports that I've briefly seen on Premier Sports. I don't subscribe to it and probably won't either.

I always watch the Six Nations matches on the BBC website or on TV.

Ding - do you live in Ireland or are you a UK user?

I live in ireland but spend maybe 4 or 5 months outside ireland a year.

Which channel streams 6N games for you?

posted on 14/1/14

when i say outside ireland i mean continental europe. i can access BBC, Irish TV US tv even sky sports where i have a subscription but i still need a UK ip address to access it if im away. BBC iPlayer works particularly well. As does Sky now but in the past they were rubbish.

however i refer Irish TV myself being partisan. But with overplay you can access any country you want and stream it. that VPN applies to any device also.

The partisan are not like this, are they?!

I suppose I'm lucky enough to live in the UK and don't have such issues.

I know it's RL but it's funny all the same

there are also free options.
For example. setup a VPN on a mates computer whereby you connect to his computer in england from wherever you are in the world. this works i have tested it. but it's to limiting for me personally. but if you want to look into doing something like that openvpn . net is your first port of call.

Another option and mos unreliable is using a proxy server. it's a pain in the back side to be perfectly honest. but again you may have the option of getting a friend in the uk to use his comp as a gateway to a uk ip address. he would effectively be the proxy. still a pain in the backside.

the last option is online streaming services. i have come across some decent quality ones in the past but its a minefield to find good ones. thats why i pay for a service.

Gatland announcing his Wales squad today, Gethin Jenkins a major doubt for the defending champions.

I'm feeling very gloomy and despondent about this years 6N. That's not just because I'm Scottish, but because the main interest for NH rugby this year will be off the pitch rather than on it.

I fear the worst if all the pre Christmas mullarkey rears its head again and PRL get their way. They probably will, because money talks.

Worse than that, the RRW/WRU situation could easily lead to the Welsh regions joining PRL for a UK Super14 type thing. That would lead to WRU having to eat a massive amount of humble pie or field a diminished Welsh team. Where would that lead subsequent 6N competitions?

Without Wales in the Pro 12, we are only a few steps away from the Euro Super 14 that PRL really want, and closer that you might think to the 6N rating alongside the LV= Cup as secondary to top flight club rugby. Autumn international rugby already is according to the PRL fine for Northampton, for having the temerity to let George North play for his country.

Pessimistic I know, but I hope to God I'm wrong. Please tell me I'm reading it wrong. PLEASE.

Is this to do with the changes to the Heineken Cup? Seems the way in any sport these days, someone throws a boat load of money towards it and they get their way one way or another.

RKW

What worries me is that at one time the final of the top flight cup competition in England (John Player/Pilkington) would sell out Twickenham dead easy - and a damned fine day out it was too to watch the best in the land. 3 years ago I got a ticket for the final on-line on the morning of the final - at Worcester .

If English club rugby can shaft such a great competition to such an extent, I fear it would have no qualms in doing the same to the 6N.

theresgonnaebeashow - What capacity is the stadium at Worcester. Sounds like they devalue the competition and it's prestige. I hope it doesn't affect the Six Nations but as you say, if the PRL get their way then it will most probably change.

Pool - Do they show GAA? That was another sport that Irish-based Setanta were big on until they ceased transmission in the UK.

Jenkins has been included in the Wales squad despite his injury concern.
