CB - glad to see you are on good form from an old pal
All you neede to know about Smith's approach to Europe was summed up in the Man Utd game.
One down and results going their way, meaning that Rangers would as a minimum, drop into the Europa League. However, if they took the game to Man U and won, they would stay in the CL.
Wattie's decision? Play defensively, at home, and try and contain Utd.
Wattie couldn't even attack in Europe when there was nothing to lose.

So if you are only including 2010/2011 season for Lenny, you must mean 1 european trophy as '1/4' ?
In that case,Walter Smith actually won 0/2 in his half season and then 2/4 in his first full season,is that really much better considering we had our highest points tally for 6 years?
Think about it

Your right cossy, Rangers were the only team to go to Old Trafford this season and keep a clean sheet. Non too shabby, Im sure you will agree.

The bears obsession with Lenny is not natural.
He had a fantastic first season in management taking a team he had just put together in nine months to two cup finals, winning one, and just losing out on the title by one point to a vastly experienced Rangers team and manager but Rangers will now be in a transitional period next season, and it remains to be seen if the 50 year old rookie can cut the mustard.
Elite, are you seriously trying to compare a experienced manager with a settled squad (for whatever reasons) against a guy in his first year in the job after making wholseale changes to the squad and missing out on a cup in extra time and the league by a point on the final day of the season?
Rangers won, fair do's, but the achievements of NL have been immense, given his starting position compared to Smith's.

Half season (ish- nearer 2 months)
Scottish Cup - Pumped by Ross county
Full season
Scottish cup.
1 outta 4 trophies with realistic chance of winning. (thats why i didnt include europe and in the half season i dindnt include league as it had long gone)
SMITH
Half season (5months)
Rangers were out both cups when smith took over
Full season
Scottish cup
League cup
Lost league
1 outta 3.
(again, didint include league in halsf season as it was gone)
Smith also manged to get to a uefa final.
As i said, no comparison.
Cap - I could not possibly comment

Rangers were still in Europe when Smith took over the 2nd time around
So he failed in Europe as he was knocked out, just as Neil was by being knocked out by Utrecht.
Or do you have a special formula that means the rule doesn't apply to 'Sir Wattie' ?
Cossy - It was in response to capital bhoy saying this after i wrote how lennon had only won 1 outta 4 trophies

Remind me what Wattie did in his first 18 months at Ibrox?
Was cap bhoy who TRIED to make a comparison. Im just pointing out there isnt one to be made.

You were the one(among all your fellow dead brain Rangers fans) that are trying to call Neil Lennon a failure, remind me how well Sir Alex Ferguson did in his first 5 years at Man Utd?
The bottom line is that Rangers spent a fortune trying to emulate the achievement of Celtic in europe and it was an epic fail which resulted in them being sold for the princely sum of 1 pound ye would get change from the price of a can of irn bru
Yep it's you Ethel
How is Brendaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
Lets just wait and see what Lenny wins by the time he retires from management, he has won a dam sight more than Watty as a player, and if he is allowed to do his job without his life and his players life's being threatened, i know he will come out on top again.
elite - cards on the table time.
All the off the field antics aside, what are your honest views on NL?
a Celtic v Rangers squabble love it two top clubs....a beast of a game on the TV and a beast of a squabble
Barra I appreciate your respect.
So in your opinion do we need to make the old firm games more violent next season i.e Celtic employ Mr Miyagi from the Karate Kid and Rangers employ Jackie Chan?
barra, don't get caaught in the middle, fella. It could get messy
