Schteve, because he's a grown up.
Billy needs money and Steve doesn't.
I wouldn't have Billy back even if we had money.
Hahaha, Im surprised you make such an admission on a public forum 666
Iwas, he didnt spend a great deal at Preston did he. So is your preference purely based on your assertion that Billy needs money to be successful? Most good managers have been successful because they had money to spend.
It's mainly because Davies is a complete tunc (anagram)
When you say at Wembley what he did about our club, well, I tell you, he went down in my estimation I can tell you and I would love it, LOVE IT, if we beat them.
666, seriously, are you happy that the club backed him as they should have
Woody. You are right. Billy is an excellent manager at this level. Unproven, at best, higher up. Steve is proven at European level.
Would I have Billy back? No. Not in place of Steve for sure. If Steve left, I wouldn't discount him completely but would take some persuading.
Nope, wouldn't have him back at all.
I don't believe he was backed as much as I would have liked, but then it's difficult to back a manager who's lying on a beach with his phone off whilst everyone else is doing their summer dealing. He nearly de-railed us entirely the January before and then used the Wembley turf to try to engineer his own future and so 'No' I would not want him back at the club under any circumstances. I know loyalty is an outdated concept and especially so in football, but most at least have the sense to pretend there's a modicum of it in themselves; not that odious little puke.
Just for clarity, I'd rather see Nigel Clough back and have us stagmating in the Championship than have Billy Davies and flirt with promotion.
Have you been watching the local wildlife 666?
One night out in Mansfield and I'm scarred for life.. I saw things, things a human man should never see
Woody - I think you have a definitive answer form 666 there! For him to take Nigel over anybody is conclusive.
I have been thinking since my earlier comment about under what circumstances I'd take Billy back.
I have tried to compile a list of managers I would like less than him. Here it is ...
Nope - can't think of any! Paul Jewell was close but I met him a few times and he's quite a decent bloke really.
I have long felt that part of the Forest fans infatuation with Billy was that you thought we wanted him back. Seems we don't.
Stil, l think he'll do a good job for you though.
I actually met Billy Davies once last year and he came across as a decent bloke and kept mentioning three people on Derby's board at the time that stabbed him in the back
I think there is more than meets the eye with what happened after the play off final but if I had to choose between Steve or Billy it would be a no brainer for me, Steve every time and I personally wouldnt swap him for any other Englishman at this time
Can't even compare the two, Billy has only ever won one thing, with us, failed twice at Preston, failed twice at forest, (soon to be 3 times).
Steve has far better past achievements, and what he has does with Nigel's team is simply brilliant!!
Pointless debate - Forest fans love Billy, Derby fans love Schteve. Neither would swap, obvs.
Pointless debate - that, or The Chase?
Frankly I prefer Al Armstrong's subtle humour than the often-childish guffawing of Bradley Walsh, and even the geeky co-host on Pointless is less annoying than the faux sneers of the 'chasers' on the ITV show, the whole premise of which is a tad too contrived for my liking, as if someone had been forced at gunpoint to submit a new gameshow format.
Both are leagues ahead of Tipping Point though, the shove ha'penny format hosted by the painfully unfunny Ben Shephard; that show makes Tom Daley's Splash seem like Mastermind by comparison.

Ilkeston,
You say that Billy failed twice at Forest and twice at Preston? So getting Preston, a current league one side, to the Championship play-offs twice was a failure? I wonder whether Preson fans would prefer to be fighting for a place in the Prem or playing in the third tier? Whether he failed twice with Forest is more up for debate given we were one of the favourites to go up in those two seasons.
But going by your logic Ilkeston, Steve has failed in every season he has managed, bar the year he won the league with Twente. He didn't win the Premier League with Boro so that's a failure. How many seasons was that. His England career was a failure. He won nothing at Wolfsburg or in his second stint at Twente. Anything but winning the league (or promotion) is failure then Ilkeston?
Failure and success depends entirely on your target; if it's promotion and you stay where you are, that's failure. If it's survival and you stay where you are, that's success.
Schtevie won stuff at Boro and survived so relative success, I think something we'd all take in a heartbeat if it were offered to our clubs. Billy Davies was brought in to save Forest from relegation first time around, and he did that so arguably has had two successes in this division.
He's still a сuņț though.
