What do you think of this?

The words came out of his mouth so I'd assume they're true. Either way, Arsenal can't take us to court because they didn't suss the lie out quick enough before the Suarez contract was renewed by us.

I think it's true, which means JW Henry has made a fool out of the Arsenal board/management!

The key word is reportedly.

How's that then?

I'm pretty sure Suarez won't be pursuing this in the courts

Just JW Henry tweeting "what are they smoking at the Emirates" was making fools out of you.

Never mind refusing to sell Suarez when his release clause was met, running the risk of court action, which he calculated Arsenal wouldn't follow through with.

Tbh whilst Liverpool and Dnipro have both done well for ignoring release clauses for their star players, it makes you wonder about what longer term ramifications the clubs actions might have regarding players' contracts in general.

A huge can of worms might have been popped open...

Yes, we felt oh so foolish by this brilliant wit.

As for the refusing to sell Suarez, seems a bit risky if there was indeed a clause, but I don't how it's making fools of us.

I'd assume the clause wasn't binding
We've always known there was some kind of clause in there since last summer..

Was also triggered Diego Costa's release clause. Means very little and J.Henry knows this..

Release clauses are very different in Spain. Every player has to have one, and it has to be registered. Very easy to enforce.

Good smokescreen though..

Arsenal actually bid the release clause figure for Suarez but still couldn't sign him!

Either he was wumming them then, or he's wumming them now. Either way.

You keep telling yourself that, guys.

Reminds of Chelsea fans when they declare Mourinho the ultimate WUM.

Nope, just an unprofessional idiot.

This would suggest maybe Suarez didn't force the issue and Liverpool just rejected it?

It also makes you wonder what the point of these release clauses are if they can be ignored.

We told Arsenal to do one..

Well done JWH

Fair play to Liverpool. Considering the position you were in in the summer (no CL, and were actually outsiders to qualify at the start of the season) it shows a lot of strength from the club.

I don't care either way to be honest.

We kept him, he has done the business, job done.

Who cares. The player never wanted to go to Arsenal, he was hoping a big club in the CL would come in but it never happened. Once he understood the clubs position he understood he'd not be going anywhere

Technically true as Arsenal weren't in the champions league at the time. They still had to play a qualifier

And they aren't a big club.
