While I agree with article I do question the statement regarding Ashley Cole. He has been consistantly good in tournaments for England imo.

Cole has been OK, but not consistently good. England have been a shambles all over the park in the past five tournaments, and that includes the defence.

i think its a joke and i don't even support england

this isn't anything new however, fans of england tend to do everything possible to undermine their team whether it be cr@p like this or even booing their team off in a major final

Not even sure why it's considered newsworthy.

Any moron can make a petition.

Cleverley may not be everybody`s favourite player, but frankly he is no better or no worse than any of the current England players that the press seem to cream themselves over, like Wilshire, Ox, Henderson, Sterling, etc. None of whom are going to make England go up a few levels.

Couldn't agree more Sandy.

Idiots. We should be trying to build up confidence in the teams and players so that they go into the tournament with belief, not destroy it.

I don't think he's worthy of a place in the team but that's not my decision, it's Roy's. So I'll support who goes.

Careful, uttering Cleverley's name in the same sentence as those above tends to spark riots among fans of the clubs.

He's having a poor season this time around, but, last season he was better than those above so, you know, swings and roundabouts really.

I think it's just a joke...

Bad things get said about footballers all the time... Think you're making more of it than necessary. As usual

and people wonder why United fans couldnt give a toss about the England football team

It's definitely more than a joke Doovde. People have been making jokes about footballers for years and years. But no one has ever been the subject of a petition trying to stop him playing for their team!

Imagine that was you. Well paid or not, it would facking destroy your confidence.

If there is no Cashley and Terry in the squad I will be able to bring myself to support England again this summer

Also, it puts Roy in a right dilemma. If he doesn't take him it might look like he is bowing to public pressure, which will make him look weak (regardless if why he actually chose not to take him). If he does take him, we've got a player in the squad that's going to have zero confidence who knows that any mistake is going to be exaggerated.

Idiots

If Cleverly takes this to heart, then he deserves all the grief he gets.

I could make a petition in two minutes about Wilshere's coke addiction. Using the power of social media, I'm sire I could get this recognised.

I think Roy making it public knowledge was worse than the peition itself!

Where do I go for the Wilshere to be drug tested before Rio petition?

It was already public knowledge, that's how it got so many signatures.

'If Cleverly takes this to heart, then he deserves all the grief he gets' - I'm not really sure what to say.

So footballers shouldn't have feelings? Of course it's going to affect him.

Imagine if all your exes started a petition that you shouldn't sleep with anyone else cos you're rubbish in bed. I'm not sure how good your next performance would be.
